So I just received drawers from Forrest and they look great... Now that I have the drawers, do I just rip the tabs out that held the previous shelves? I played with one for a second and looked like it was cause damage to the walls if I just ripped them out?

I remember seeing that as well but now I can't find it. Found this though, might help.

As far as the hooks, you do have to just break them off. I pushed a small screwdriver in from the front as a wedge then folded back and forth a couple times and they snapped right off.
The drawers on the other hand... if you see those next week I'll shit my pants. I paid the "RUSH" fee. I'd have to look up actual timelines, but I'll tell you one thing, it wasn't a week! Just get that thing cleaned, de-scented, and loaded up before your honeymoon. Worry about seasoning drawers after you return. (You don't want to rush that process anyway)

I too am curious. Just got a Vinotemp 28 and its looking like I have the tabs on mine as well. Will be here Monday. Been doing so much research to try and find the best way to get these off. I have serious ocd and do not even want to scratch the thing, let alone pry off tabs with a flat head on a brand new unit. I seen a couple of people just rip them off, but I'm not sure this is for me. I was thinking to use a Dremel myself and just cut them off flush to the cooler. Just dont know if the drawers will have any problems sliding in with the 1-2cm tab thats still left on the flat surface of the slot.

Curious as to what you're going to do, but I will throw some pics in here of the guys I found just ripping them off ....

I just used needle nose pliers and grabbed the part sticking out and bent them back and forth till the ears broke off, drawers slid right in with no problems. I didn't try to pry the off the inside walls. Grab them close to the wall and just start swiveling them back and forth..... Remember, this is what worked for me.... Not all experiences could be the same.

I pried up the front edge of each tab, grabbed it with a pair of needle nose, and worked it back and forth until it snapped off. No damage to the unit.

I used my hands, it really doesn't take that much pressure, nothing happened to the inside walls and my set of drawers fit like a glove

***DO NOT try to pry the entire plastic hook out of the wall of the Newair***

I Did that with one, and the walls of the unit are much thinner than you think they are ;)

All you need to do is break off the part of the tab that sticks up vertically; you will still have a (jagged, unless you trim/sand them) horizontal nub sticking out, but once your shelves and drawers are in place you won't even see them. If you plan well, you can even leave alone the tabs you aren't putting shelves or drawers directly into.

UPDATE: This really isn't that big of a deal. Just grab the vertical tab with a pair of needle nose pliers and bend the piece down. It snaps right off.. The piece thats perpendicular to the wall stays in place.

I didn't mess with any prying or screwdrivers or any of the such. You really can't see the tabs once the drawers are installed anyway. This probably took me 45 seconds.

Senor Perfecto hit the nail on the head!
