Finally picked up a 48 quart cooler. My plan is to keep boxes on the bottom and have a couple trays, for singles. Anyone have particular luck with cheap humidor's trays? Or should I just pile empty boxes on the bottom and put all my singles in a Tupperware container on top of them (and store my boxes in my current humidor)?

Thanks in advance

And is half a pound of hf beads enough for that size?

I have several leftover trays just sitting in my garage from downsizing my cooler setup. If you are willing to pay the shipping you can have them. Either have 6 or 8, cant remember at the moment but I can send you some or all. I'll check the number and snap a couple pics when i get home from work in the morning if you want

I think either will work. The Cheap Humidors trays are just fine and I've had some for a year or so with no complaints. Boxes are good too though.

Spring strong sweet tall green grass grow...
Full boxes on bottom, singles tray/tupper on top will work great.
Might want to grab the $4 bag of MiMi Litter from Wal-Mart and a handful of Boveda to rotate/recharge and save the money you would have spent on HF beads for some special occasion sticks. Just my opinion. (not sure if you've considered that route)

If you're not stacking the trays, id recommend the Tupperware just to protect the sticks better.

That or have a stack of trays on one side and the boxes on the other. Just seems more stable that way.

I agree with cgraunke, KL is the way to go. Cheaper and very effective.

Yep, I've been using ExquisiCat crystals from petsmart and they hold 65% like a champ. An 8lb bag was like $10. I put about half of it in my humi a year ago and it's still working perfectly.

I had to buy in the store though, as they don't sell online.

That would be amazing, barring they would fit in my cooler (seems a little small compared to others coolers). I would defiantly pay shipping and a 5er for some.

As for the HF vs KL... I bought 1lb of it for my smaller humidor and realized its WAY over kill. I coul split it and still have functionality, but wanted to make sure it was enough. If 1lb to 148qt is enough, then I think I'll be good with my 1/2.

Sorry I didn't come back to this, life is crazy trying to buy and sell a house.

Snapped these on my way out the door this morning, if they look like something you could use let me know.

you do not need beads in a Tupperware, it is a sealed environment.

invest in a good hygrometer,it is important to monitor humidity, you may not need many beads if the cooler seals properly.

I think I'm going to convert to KL. My HF beads aren't holding in my wineador like they used to. Thanks for the tip!

I'm looking at houses, too brother. No worries, life comes first. Those look great. I defiantly would pay shipping on those bad boys. And of course, a nice set of smokes, as well :)

Thank you for the 5er in return, looks like the trays are once again doing what they are supposed to instead of pissing off my wife taking up shelf space in the garage
