Glad to be a part of this...been lurking for a bit and so far have really enjoyed everyone's posts! My name is Scott, from the KC area, the good side (Kansas) and have been a smoker for right around a year. I chewed for way too long and kind of took this up as a "vice" after I had quit chewing for about 6 months. Considering I chewed (16 years) you would think that I was a heavy cigar smoker or at least a fan of super nicotine, full bodied smokes...I am exactly the opposite. I prefer mild to medium smokes, right now doing a little Habano tour, my favorites being the Hoyo Ep. 1 and Partagas D4. I just received some H. Upmann 46 magnums today and are letting those rest for a bit. As far as non cubans, my favorite so far is a cigar not many are smoking the VegaFina; the first smoke I ever had during a trip to Europe that really got me enjoying cigars. Secondly I am loving the Aging Room small batches, both the quattro that won some awards this year and the smaller vitola the M356, I believe it is, that won some awards in 2011. I've done some infused and really liked those for a bit but about half through the boxes I started to "grow" out of them. Currently I'm looking to continue to explore the what seems like thousands of different smokes available in today's market.
I have a very special request instead of the usual "nice to meet you" responses. I am due to have my first kid, a boy named Jameson in less than 2 weeks and am looking for something special to smoke with my Dad and Brother on that day. I would just go out and do a Behike 54 or 56 and call it good but they wouldn't know what the hell they were smoking and I'd honestly be wasting my money. So I'm looking for suggestions on a mild to medium cigar that my non-smoking (and I mean never) Dad and brother could enjoy that would be at least a little bit special for the day. I'd prefer Cuban only to give it a bit of a story but could deal with something domestic if it at least had a "story" to tell them. By that I mean, "Jack Nicholson's favorite smoke" or "The smoke James Gandolfini had during his Soprano years". Whatever, just something to get them excited and interested.
Thanks for reading this monstrosity and hope to get some good ideas!
