Hey guys,
My first review on BOTL.org (i'm mostly on r/cigars), so go easy on me.
The Back Story:
As soon as these bad boys went on sale, I bought a box right away. Good or bad, I love everything crowned heads makes, so I knew I would be safe with a blind box purchase. While in transit I read several reviews and the waiting, made everything in my world seem to slow down. It was pure torture. Fast forward 3 days I got my box in and normally, I break the seal, place the box in my humidor, and wait several weeks for them to settle in, but this wasn't a normal box. The second I popped that seal, I was overwhelmed with an intense aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a little baby Jesus. I wouldn't be able to wait another second without lighting one of these up.
The Review:
Pre Light: The construction on this cigar is a bit rough IMO and the cap is ugly, but it is sooo toothy. I could seriously sand down the rough edges on my ashtray with this cigar. I LOVE IT. After cutting the cap, and taking a cold draw, I got notes of COCOA SUPREME and a bit of some subtle earthy flavor. The draw was not too tight, or not too loose.
First Third: HOLY SHIT, that is some tasty pepper! Right off the bat, I'm bombarded with some fantastic high impact peppery notes, that really worried me at firs,t but I got none of that bitter taste that usually follows. It was like biting into a well seasoned steak. I really like where this is going. About an inch in the pepper notes, calmed down, but I was rewarded with the aromatic taste I smelled when I first opened that box. Cocoa, coffee, and even a little floral, the perfect full bodied smoke for me. The ash held on nicely, and it looked beautiful.
Second Third/Final Third:
I'm going to be honest. I had full intention of carefully writing down all of the notes of this cigar as I smoked it, but after that first third, I was way to distracted by how good of a smoke this was. The draw, aroma, ash, flavor, all of it flawless. I would have to give this cigar a 9/10. The only point I deducted was because of the ugly cap. Everything else that makes a cigar a perfect cigar was spot on. I only have one picture of the whole ordeal, as I lost track of where I was and what I was doing. I can't wait to smoke another one tonight.
The one picture I took. LOOK AT IT. JUST LOOK AT IT!!!
TL;DR Jericho Hill is the best cigar I have had all year, and I have smoked well over 250 cigars this year. GO BUY THEM NOW
