Well, instead of littering BoTL with a few different posts, I'd thought I'd wrap them up into one and this thread is as good a location as any.

A little over a month ago I hadn't gotten into pipes yet and then Dave #1 (Grrrrr) changed that. Then Shawn (Xavier) shoved me down the restoration path, followed by Dave #2 (Whtwtr79) kicking me on a trade, followed by Sean (JavaJunkie) completing the smackdown. Hmmm... beware of guys named Dave and Sean/Shawn? Sensing a pattern. Plus a bunch of purchases that I made.

Anyway, how things have changed in a month. In a freaking month! Since others have posted "acquisitions" in addition to purchases, I thought I'd do the same as a way to participate in the thread and to thank/call-out some brothers. So, without further ado, my latest acquisitions and purchases (not including stuff I've bought that will be bombed out shortly):

The stash of pipes and baccy:

Plus over a dozen samples from the guys:

Peterson Irish Harp 606, CAO Moontrance, Davidoff Flake Medallions, CAO Bella Vanilla, C&D Back Porch, and a few others from my BnB Groupon. I am more of a cigar smoker (at least 1 per day) and have smoked a pipe in the past. My first experiences with a pipe resulted in severe mouth burn and a hatred for Latakia. Starting slow and smoking slow this time to hopefully make this go round a pleasant one.

Damn fine looking pipe there. Not familiar with the baccy you purchases personally but I'm sure we can all help with suggestions of things to try if you let us know what you like/dislike about the blends you have and have tried. Cheers!

Thanks! The baccy I ordered is either aromatic stuff that sounded good and perique blends. I tend to gravitate to perique since it is a bit spicy and comes from Louisiana, our neighboring state and where much if my family comes from. The Davidoff Flake Medallions is not an aro, yet has a very pleasant room note that my wife may tolerate in when she rides with me in my truck. LOL.

Happy wife, happy life! A personal favorite is a VA/Perique blend, Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake. It's tasty and ridiculously cheap in bulk.

Lots of good non Latakia blends that may fit your needs, start simple with some carter hall.... So many aros burn and bite and I think are a bad place to start
