Brothers,

I've just recently started to dry box cigars and it seems to make a great improvement on my smoking experience, but I've got a question.

I typically pull out the cigars I plan to smoke for the next few days. Occasionally, I'll run into a scenario where I don't get around to smoking one. Is there any risk to taking a cigar that's been dry boxed for 3-4 days and throwing it back in the humidor?

I keep my humi between 65 and 67.

Thanks,
Tom

Here's an idea. Drop the humidity in your humidor to 62%-63% and skip the dry box completely. Typically you are looking at 1%/week shift on the cigar until its acclimated to its new surroundings. Repeated exposures from one extreme to the other will eventually lead to split wrappers.

I generally pull out a stick for 30 mins to an hour before lighting it so the wrapper does what its going to do with whatever the moisture conditions are.

I wouldn't fret throwing them back in after a couple days. But I also agree with JustinThyme, though for me it is 65, I don't dry box, and I don't get split wrappers typically unless it is something I smoke too soon after shipping.

Haha, thanks! I'm working my down to 62% or so. But after years of hearing 70/70, it's been a slow process to erase the brain washing!
Yeah the 70/70 and PG solution pitches get pretty much everyone when starting out.

I generally store at 65% with CCs lower around 60-62% with a few thousand sticks in wineadors to keep temps at 66F. Then I have a 60 count and a 100 count at about 62% that I top off as needed and smoke from.

That's a really good idea! I've just finished a cooler for build. Maybe I'll keep that at 67% for long term storage (I don't smoke CCs...yet) and drop my desktop humidor (50 count) to 62%. That way if I decide it's too dry for me, it's only 50 sticks (as opposed to a few hundred in my cooler).

Thanks for the tip! Also, I'm insanely jealous if your Wineadors.
