The Dreaded Beetle

While sorting through my inventory I noticed an Illusione Epernay had the tell-tale signs of Beetles.

This cigar was in a box in the middle of a Coolidor along with about 15 other random, high-end singles, none of which showed signs. I did an autopsy ind The Epernay was full of holes and tunnels

I'm now systematically freezing my entire collection and inspecting every stick. Hopefully this is an isolated incidence, but I doubt it. What a pain in the ass. I'll probably freeze all new cigars before adding them to storage.

I have come to realize by being on here that if you are a "collector" for long enough, you are bound to be affected by beetles in one form or another.

Hope its an isolated thing.

Good timing on this. I just got a new 5 pack of EPC short runs and I'm wondering if one of them has beetle holes. Can anyone comment based off these crappy iPhone pics?

Had this happen once. Luckily my beetle was contained to 1 smoke. When I sorted thru my humidor I found the beetle dead. I think it got into the beads and that killed him.

Those don't look like beetles to me. The should be a small round hole as seen in Xavier's photos.

Those don't look like beetles to me. The should be a small round hole.

That would make me very happy. Any idea what else they could be? Just a damaged wrapper?

Yes just a blemish in the wrapper.

Naa. That's just leaf abuse at the manufacturer. Check the other sticks and if nothing, smoke that one now.

I agree. That looks more like shipping or wrapper damage from the cigar bouncing around to me.

I've been dealing with this issue for a few weeks now. Freezing everything as I get room in the freezer. No signs of damage to sticks yet, but they are annoying little bastards...

Found a stick last week with about 5 holes in it. Luckily, everything else in the coolidor was not affected; found the beetle dead. I've checked every stick about 3 times since then.
