Open Box Before Shipping Advisable?

I saw this on the shipping info for a site:

"For ALL orders, we WILL OPEN AND INSPECT the boxes to make sure the cigars are as they should be. You may also request that we do not open the box before shipping, you will be able to do this during the ordering process."

Does anyone have any opinions on this one way or another. I can understand wanting to check for damaged product before shipping, but...especially with a heavily counterfeited product it makes me feel a bit odd, so I figured it was worth asking.

And please delete my question if I've broached a subject that shouldn't have been breached...

Well, I personally want mine inspected. I understand what you are saying regarding counterfeits. That's why I wouldn't use any vendor that would rebox and reband. But if you trust your vendor to send you legit smokes, why not trust them to inspect them for you? Over time, you form a relationship with your vendor. He will know what you like and don't like in terms of flavor, wrapper color etc. and be able to make reccomendations about product for you. I want to know that the vendor has inspected what he is sending me so that there is less chance for receiving damaged product as well.

TRUST your vendor. If you don't, find a new one.

Always if it's an option. I've gotten moldy smokes twice now. Once from a place that didn't inspect and once on Tubos. Inspect, inspect, inspect.

Always.

I trust my vendors. I rather have them check than get a bad box sent to me and have to send it back.

My vendors always open to inspect.

The only reason you would get a box unopened, would be for investment reasons. If you were to buy a box today and sit on it for the next 25-30 years, the value for said box would be higher if the seal was not broken, making sure that the cigars in the box are for the date marked on the bottom.

I haven't ordered a box of those particular types of cigars in quite some time, but when I did, the vendor I used (which unfortunately is now out of business, so I have to try and find a new one...But I've got plenty of time, as it will be a while before I have the extra jack laying around to pick up a box) opened every box and checked for mold, beatles, cracked heads/feet....I appreciated it as it saved me from having to return any damaged sticks, and waiting for them all over again. Of course, the vendor did offer the option of leaving the box sealed, and he would still allow you to return the sticks if they were damaged in any way..

Always. One of the first guys I used did not and after getting two orders of damaged cigars, I switched.
