Hey bros, I need some answers, What is really the big deal revolving around cuban cigars? Why do cubans carry so much mystic with them? And most of all why is everyone alway so hush hush about them? If know one shares info about it how does anyone ever try them? For I'm not just going to pick a site and order, and get screwed. I'm confused on why the cuban talk is so taboo. And I understand the whole trade embargo thing, but that doesn't stop people from buying? Not trying to get into trouble, just trying to understand the other half of the cigar life, Are the truely worth the money?

The taboo is simply the fact that it is a Federal offense to obtain cigars from Cuba. There are severe consequenses for doing so. That being said, it is obvious people have tried Cuban Cigars. I for one have smoked practically all the "best" non cuban cigars out there and can say for me, there is no comparison. Cuban cigars are fantastic and the best tobacco on earth for the making of cigars is grown in Cuba. It is not a mystic thing for me, but a true appreciation of the fine smoking experience.

but the big question is why do people not share information? I mean privately, why not let others be able to share the same experience without getting screwed by someone selling fakes, If there is not communication everyone who would like to try one is left out in the wind guessing.

I've wondered myself...It seems it's more of a holdover, from days past, before they became so obtainable via the internet...Most guys hold their sources very close to vest, because they feel that if that source experiences an influx in traffic, it could result in some exposure to Customs Officials...Honestly, I don't really understand the concern....Another reason I have read is that guys worked hard to gain the trust of another, in the past, to get access to a particular vendor who may have access to a better selection of sticks, or a large stock of some limited release smokes, so it almost seems to be a selfishness, save the best for me because I worked for it mentality....I could be way off base here, and I do not mean to offend any of the BOTL out there, just making some observations....

Just my 2 cents, but I have found that I appreciate the flavor of a CC more than most of the NCs I've smoked. Mystique? To some extent I guess. But not without a basis. The tobacco that is grown in a CC is unique and the cigar culture has been established for a very long time and these parts make a well established and quality product.

As far as sources…. Remember these are not legal in the US. I have not been given access to the sources that are in use by some of the brothers, but I certainly do not begrudge those who have found (or have been shown) quality reliable outlets their right to guard those sources. There are reliable vendor in the Retail Forums and a moderate search through the board will turn up additional ones. But, because it is harder to find certain cigars and some cigars with some age on them, those that can supply them will be kept on the DL.

It’s been said before, but bears repeating….Stay on the boards, stay involved and show yourself to be interested and patient and you will find that doors will be opened…..

Donk, here's the issue with the sharing deal. If you surf around the net enough right now in the cigar BBs and even in the news, you'll notice that the Fed. has recently decided to tighten their enforcement on the Embargo even more. Then there is always the scare that a new person could be phishing for one of the agencies, etc, etc. Thing to keep in mind is that Cubans are illegal plain and simple. So be paitent and don't take offense if someone doesn't want to share info. And if someone is willing to share info, BE GRATEFUL! They are taking a pretty big leap in trusting you with information. Stick around, get involved and let people get to know you.

Beyond that, the thing with Habanos is the taste for most people who truly enjoy them. I'm sure some out there go after them for the "mystique," but those with taste buds do it for the taste. It's just something you get or don't and it isn't necessarily something that you'll notice if you are just an occasionaly smoker.

The hard part is being a broke smoker and trying to limit your craving for CCs, and still keep your taste for NC cigars ;-) As it is right now, I smoke maybe one CC per 5-7 NC...I can still enjoy both, so I haven't been totally ruined...yet...

People are so quiet about them because they're illegal. Those that know, should be strict with who they give out information to because this is basically a faceless place. We don't know you and you don't know us. Stick around and gain some trust and you'll have sources.

I still enjoy NCs, mainly because I can't afford, and have never tried, CCs.

Maybe it's for the best, eh?

The Crue is coming to San Antone soon with Aerosmith, and I have free tickets to a show at the Verizon theatre since the main band walked off stage at the last event we went to...

drew

The first concert I ever went to was Ozzy Osborne, with Motley Crue opening. This was back in their "Shout at the Devil" days. Early 1980s, I think.

This particular concert generated some minor buzz in the press. The concert was in Portland, OR, close to the end of the tour (I think it might have been their last stop), and the two bands decided to play practical jokes on each other at that particular concert.

When the Crue was playing, Ozzy and his band snuck up into the rafters and dumped buckets of potato salad on the Crue. I had no idea what was raining down at the time, but I read about it later. The funny thing was, the band hardly missed a beat.

Then when Ozzy played, the Crue, dressed in nothing but black hooded robes came out on the stage and started flashing the band and the audience. We all thought it was part of the show at first... a procession of hooded figures seemed pretty normal for Ozzy. Then Ozzy stopped singing for a minute, and Randy Rhodes hit some off notes, which he didn't normally do. Then the hooded figures turned around and I saw why.

The good old days of my youth...

Not to be a killjoy, but when was the last time you asked someone where they bought thier pot from?

Buying/possesing CC's is a clandestine venture, so it's not openly discussed.
