So have any of you had the experience that before the full symptoms of a common cold or flu come on you find yourself not being able to taste your cigars correctly at all and your body also becomes much more sensitive to vitamin N? I mean even before you start getting the stuffy nose, cough etc. I had a cigar today that really started to taste flat the whole way and yesterday's cigar was the same. Now at the end of my day the stuffy nose, scratchy throat, and slight cough came on but it seems my body was telling me something was happening.

Anyone else get this? Sucks cause I think it ruined my experience on a couple of smokes this weekend and I was looking forward to a few more but now I am gonna throw those back in the humi so I don't ruin them for myself.

Yes. Every time I am even congested I don't taste nearly as much, if anything at all. That is because so much of your taste is linked to your smell. Its usually a good idea to not smoke when you're sick, too. Just drink plenty of clear fluids and get better man.

Everytime I have a cold I dont smoke for that reason. A few years ago I had a cold right on new years eve and everyone was smoking cigars and I wanted to have one too but I didnt feel the greatest. I ended up with a acid kuba kuba. With how much sweet flavors it had I could not taste a single thing. And then half way through it I got a wicked buzz. I am more than willing to bet since I was not tasting anything I chiefing that sucker trying to get something out of it. Once the storm is coming I dont smoke til its over.

I haven't been smoking much lately for that exact reason. Cold, allergies, whatever the hell it is, I've been congested on ans off for the past two weeks. Why waste a good cigar if you can't taste it.

I was right there last weeks, for 2 days every cigar I tried kind of tasted funny or no taste at all then by the end of the second day I started getting the stuffy nose and soar throat, and when I woke up on the third morning it just sucked couldn't breath at all!

I got a cold now and wondered whether I should smoke or not. After reading this thread I think I'll wait until I can actually taste/smell anything, my nose is not working very well now.

I usually skip it but this year I think I will get one. For the same reason. Bunch of carriers!

I smoke no matter. Have a cold right now. Just don't smoke my expensive stuff. Need lady N
Nettie pots are great at cleaning out sinuses.
Never had a desire to try these, but after talking to a couple of guys at the shop on Tuesday, I think I am going to try one this year........what do I have to lose?

Not only with colds or flu but taking certain meds can and will change your taste. Antibiotics are notorious for screwing up your taste buds as I know firsthand...it takes some patience to start back with your cigars but to test them out....smoke a cigar you know forwards and backwards so you'll know your tastes are back to normal. I've seen it take about a month to get it all back and that's enough to frustrate the crap outta any cigar person.

I cannot smoke when I am sick, and do notice everything tastes different when you are getting sick. I don't smoke daily so it is nothing for me to wait. I would advise you to wait because last thing you want is a cigar that makes your stuffy nose worse that you didn't even enjoy.
