Can you help a cigar self-correct??

Lucky me rarely has a smoke with a poorly burning cigar. When it happens, my preference is to let the stick correct itself.
Are there any tricks (beside a lighter touch-up) you use to assist the process??
Like puffing harder or more often or purging the cigar??

Depends how far behind it is for me. A light purge, or a double set of puffs often times makes the lacking side catch up quicker.. If it's a larger spot that isn't burning, not sure really of anything you can do other than tapping it with a torch flame.

If it's consistantly burning slower on one side, turn that side down when you're resting the cigar.. The smoke is supposed to slow the faster burning side down some as well, or wet your finger and dab under the faster burning side. That can slow it down and allow the other side to catch up.

If it's just a wonky burn, I will hold the lighter near but not touching the part of the wrapper that is not burning as fast until it begins to catch up

This never works for me, I have tried and tired and nope no good.......that latter part I've never tired.

If I notice early that one side is slightly ahead of the other, rotating the slow side down seems to correct the burn in short order. If the lop burn is advanced only touching up will fix it. In most cases I pay close attention to the burn and make adjustments in rotation as I smoke.

I agree 100%. I put the lagging side down and it usually catches up. The only caveat is if you're smoking outdoors, the wind can have an effect, sometimes you just need to play with rotating the cigar.

Yep...sometimes you're just going to get a cigar that will not burn correctly and I use my soft flame to touch it up when it misbehaves.

Interesting, I put the lagging side up because heat rises. Usually works itself out. If not, I'll just torch the lagging side.

Nope, lagging side down.
Heat does rise, but that's where your burn will be slowest due to a lack of oxygen. Granted, like atbat said, wind can play a factor as well. I really notice this smoking while going for walks. If I don't rotate diligently they canoe like nobody's business!
