From what time do you consider cigar aging to begin?

I've asked a few questions before about what cigar is good to smoke straight from the store.

Then it hit me. Just because the cigar is in the humidor in the cigar store doesn't mean it's not aged.

Well, personally I think you can include the amount of time it has been sitting in the humidor in the store as part of cigar aging.

What do you guys consider aging? And from when does it start? When manufactured? Sitting on the shelf in the store? When you put it in your personal humidor?

I usually age from the box date, which is usually found on the bottom.

I think "aging" is from the time the cigar is rolled. Now "resting" is the time it hits your humidor before you smoke it. "Resting" is still "aging" but "aging" is not always "resting". IMHO anyway.

Agreed. Resting should be the time from receiving a cigar and having it acclimate to your humidor. Resting time will depend on how well the cigar was stored previous to you having it.

hahah Damnit, Clint. OK, maybe I wasn't very clear. I "age" my cigars from the box date. I "rest" my cigars for at least two weeks after buying in my humidor, longer if they seem dry. This is getting too confusing lol
