I'll be heading down to Gainesville, FL from Northwest Indiana for Grassroots Motorsports $2014 challenge and wondering if anyone had any recommendations for shops to stop at on the way there/back.

Last year I flew down and with both the rental car and hotel having a strict no smoking policy, I didn't even bring my own in case the scent lingered enough for them to levy a $$$ cleaning fee.

This year I'm going to be driving down.

There was nothing in or near Gainesville that I found last year. I went by two places that google said were cigar shops, but were really just head shops.

I've got 1000 miles plus along I-65 and I-75 and will need a couple stops. Not looking to venture too far off the highway at least on the way down.

Any recommendations?

Right off 1-65 in Jeffersonville, IN is Riverside Cigar Shop. Great selection and great people. If you need a stop before you hit Kentucky.

If you come through Chattanooga, come see us at Burns Downtown. It's about 10 mins outside of I-75. If you hit it on Friday or Saturday night, I'll be there working.

If youre rolling through Knoxville on I75.. give me a shout, and Ill come meet you for a quick smoke..

Silo Cigars in Knoxville has a really nice selection.. great staff.. etc..

Smokys in Knoxville has a large walk in.. always has a ton of Liga/DE stuff on hand if thats something youre interested in, and has the nicest lounge in the city..

tons of nice shops in Atlanta (assuming youll be rolling through Atlanta on 75?).. Highland Cigar is nice.... Dantanna's is a cool cigar bar/lounge in Buckhead..

and if youre rolling through Chattanooga.. Ill give a big +1 to Burns (already recommended).... one of the best shops in the entire region IMO...

Just to add to what's already been said; Silo in Knoxville, Burns in Chattanooga, Tobacco World is about 15 minutes north of Atlanta on 75, they claim to have the biggest walk-in in the southeast, if it's not, I'd be surprised. Also, if you're taking your time in Chattanooga, hit Burns downton, if not, hit the one next to the Chattanooga billiards club, it's a great place and the two walk-ins are huge, I've found some pretty rare/htf stuff I'm those corners.

Just read up on the Grassroots Motorsports $2014 Challenge event.

---

The basic premise is simple: Teams are dared to buy, build and prepare a car without spending more than the budget cap.

For this year, teams are limited to $2014.

The level of craftsmanship seen at the annual event is staggering, yes, we're talking 10-second cars built for just two grand.

---

Sounds like an awesome event. Have a great time and safe travel.

Stopped at Smokeys, had an awful lot of moldy cigars in their walk in. Did find 10 cigars I wanted that weren't, but they're going to need to dry out a while.

Getting back on the road, already fell behind schedule due to traffic a few hours back.
