I am really curious to see how this turns out. I would think it would be hard to pull off but if it is a good smoke it will be magical.

It is different. According to JD, it is a Liga filler with a Willy Herrera wrapper. That being said, I'm not sure why they put an undercrown band on it. I should have asked him, but didn't think about it until after I talked to him.

Hey guys,
I brought the original mold to JD as a gift when I went on safari. It's an antique german mold and the original size was 13.5x38. Literally a double lancero. He obviously liked it and he blended it up right away and we had the biggest safari up to that time, 20 people, and we all received one. He made up another batch at 13" and sent me 10 for my anniversary and passed along some to the DE crew, many were smoked at IPCPR. They even went outside to hide them. They went through a few versions and they settled on a size of 11x40 and made up new molds for the Manifesto. It is a liga blend with a Habano wrapper used in the Herrera Esteli. I'm a bit biased since the pre-release was named after me but it is a damn good stick! It is not like the UC and I don't knwo why they used that name but if you can get one, enjoy it! They age well but I prefer them fresh. I think they are 2x as good fresh as they are with a year on them. I did not use this for my safari blend, I did the DE A size for my blend and basically made a T52 A. Its one of the best sticks I have ever had.

My pleasure @joe45 . Even people that were there tend to have their own little changes to the story or have forgot details. It was just so overwhelmingly exciting to be a part of a cigar from my favorite blender, much less have my name associated with it that it's something I will never forget! Much less for it to be such a unique item in the industry! Even though the size is monstorous, the draw has been perfect on every one I've had and no burn issues. Feedback has been outstanding too. I was pretty stocked when I was asked to sign some boxes! lol All I did was give him the mold and say yeah, that sounds awesome!

I saw the YouTube video of, I believe, that safari from the Reddit reviewer. I thought it looked amazing, and wondered if they ever did more with that mold. Thanks for the update.

The fresh rolled was so smooth and the complexity I am familiar with was faded but flavors I was not expecting came through clearly, including a light but sweet melon like burst in the first couple inches. It was a completely different cigar! If I could have a hand rolled any time I wanted, I would have one EVERY morning for breakfast!

Sounds good man. It'd make a hell of an addition to the lance February line up.

Nice. I got to see these at Casa on Halloween, but wasn't able to try one as I was too far back in the line. It was cool to meet JD though and I did get to try an A. Thought it was fantastic, but it could have been the company too. Thanks for sharing GruntmaN. Cool story for sure brother.
