I was walking in my study, home after a two day hunting trip, feeling pretty good about things. I opened the lid on my humidor looking to find something to match my good mood.

To my horror, right in the middle of my beauties was this half smoked Arturo Fuente Exquisito that my wife decided to put in the humidor because "It wasn't all gone".

Of course the inside of the humidor was smelling like burnt cigar. It has only been a day and a half or so, but I ran around like a crazed madman, opening the doors on the humidor, and turning on every fan in the house.

I think I and the cigars will be okay, but just for the sake of prevention, do I.....

a) Buy another humidor?
b) Buy a whole lot more cigars?
c) Buy another wife?????? :hammersma

Multiple answers are ok.

Use it to your advantage. "Honey, I think that these cigars are destroyed... you can do without new shoes for a few months, can't you?"

Damn, "here's your sign"

How big is the humidor? I've never had this happen, thank goodness, so I would have no clue what to do.

Humidor holds 1000 or so. Probably no more than about 300-400 in there right now, and most of them in boxes.

Everything's fine, I think; at least it's passing the sniff test. I did really scare her with my Exorcist head spinning act, though.

I could probably get another box or two out of the deal......:eyebrow: (Unless she reads this... then I'm hosed)

 Try to get another box or two. I wouldn't be too concerned with the cigars inside the boxes. But, I'd be more concerned with the smell lingering inside the humidor.

I bet the boxes will be fine. Singles might have a slight off taste. Take out the cigars for a day and put them back in. I bet you'll be all right.

You are fine.

You have the open door to go on a buying spree.

Put the guilt on her a bit and you are good to go.

Oh crap. Damn, that's not good. I was hoping this was gonna be a small desktop or something. Try a few cigars over the next week and see how bad the damage is. That aroma has a way of getting into surrounding cigars in a bad way.

ok since Tripp mentioned it, send me some of them to sample. I'll advise ya after that...

I don't know what state you are in, but in most states, it's ok to kill her after something like this.

I checked..... no can do on the wife-a-cide. Unless I want to do upwards of 45 to 60 days of community service. That might affect my bowl game watching.

Thus, she lives..... :argue:

This happened to my desktop humidor when I was a newb. I cut off a half smoked cigar and it made the whole thing stink. I had to move the cigars elsewhere and air it out a while. Just get a cooler or something for the mean time.

Also a bottle of pure ayre might help de-stinkify it. The cigars... I don't know if you can salvage those if any have been tainted.

Like they said smoke them and see. I think the humi will be ok but the singles probably won't smoke right. By the way it's nice to see you back Kevin.
Well, at first, I told myself that I wasn't gonna post anymore until your Steelers started winning......

But finally, I just had to give in. :robinhood

I'm feeling the love.

I also still have my "Ain'ts" sack in my closet from many years ago. Anyone remember them????
