I just bought a new Bushmaster ORC .308. I paid $899. MSRP is $1,403.
Did I get a good deal? Or do they always discount these things?

I just checked around and I would say you did pretty well. Before I purchase any firearms I usually check pricing at gunbroker and budsgunshop just to get an idea of what other people are paying for them. I would recommend investing in some Magpul mags. They are the only mags I use for my M4. The regular steel mags aren't terrible depending on how hard you use them though. I don't know what you plan on using it for but definitely put some good glass on it. Hope this helps.

You got a good deal Michael. Anything under a grand$ is good. Since the ORC is an optics ready, Did your gun come with a sight or do you have to get one? It's basically a plug and play fun. Get a good scope or EOTech and you are good to go. You planning on killing Zombies? Lol.

I will look at Optics when I pick it up. It was out of stock. It will be in Friday. I wanted to see what looks best on it. I also bought a Glock 9mm. I figure it is about time this cowboy got something that was not lever-action.
Zombies or looters....whichever threatens my life, liberty or property 1st.

Yeah it only comes with a 5 round clip and in Cali you can only have a 10 round clip. I may need to drive to Vegas next time and not fly.

I just shake my head at different states' gun laws. I think Magpul makes a 10 rounder though.
Magazine! Clips hold ammo, magazines feed it.... sorry. Great rifle though

You can get that Magpul PMAG as a 10 round version, too!
(10, 20 & 25 round magazines available in the .308)
Whatever optic you get, figure out what you are going to use it for. Enjoy your new toys. Since I retired, I got a new gun too.

I would not say I am into guns. I would say that it was time to get something other than the guns my grandfather left me. A pair of old Colts 45s and a Winchester 1873 44 Cal. I will however never part with any of those.

Gotcha. Sorry, I am just familiar with the classics. I have never had a simiautomatic before. I am looking forward to trying them out though. Oak Tree Gun Club here I come.

What are your thoughts on a PRO Red Dot w/ the Aimpoint 3x magnifier with the swing away mount? How bad ass would that be?

The PRO is an excellent red dot.
I hate magnifiers. I'm in the "red dot or Variable scope" camp. If you want magnification, look at the Vortex Viper PST 1-4. it's what I put on my AR. True 1x, so you can use it akin to a red dot, but good glass and enough magnification to reach out to touch things.

Right there are two excellent opinions. But it depends upon what you are going to Do with the rifle. To make it a zombie killer, brush gun or target/protection gun, the above works great. If you are going to hunt long distance, wrong scope imho. But, I bet it's not your hunting gun. Lol.
