Due to my numerous food intolerances, I have to be very, very careful of anything I eat. Most of the turkeys out there are injected with broth which contains gluten and other allergens. We where thrilled to find fresh Butterball turkeys at our local Costco, that where pure turkey, with no injected broth. Most of the turkeys on the top of the refrigerated case where close to room temperature, so we dug down to the bottom, and found one that was really cold. So we make up all the sides and desserts this morning, and then open the turkey. Overwhelming smell of rotten eggs. A large amount of stinking dark brown liquid in the package. For those who don't know, that's a sign of a rotten bird, loaded with bacteria. "Sell by date" was 11/30/14.

I check the freezer and all we have is ground beef. So we had burgers with all the Thanksgiving sides. Still had a great meal, and very thankful for all God's blessing through the year.

Considering how warm all those birds on the top of the case where, I'm sure we weren't the only one. I hope no one tried to cook and eat one of these rotten birds.

Sorry to here that, but honestly, burgers sound better than turkey to me!

Definitely tell Costco about it. I once got a bad steak there and they refunded my money no questions asked.

Burgers>Turkey lol

This morning I cracked an egg to make bacon, eggm and cheese for my wife and half an embryo dropped out and overwhelming nasty ass smell came from it. It was an egg from my mothers fridge (We were there early to help cook) and my mom almost threw up lol

That sucks man, i would definitely let Costco know about it though. They are great about refunding bad food.

Costco has a great return policy that's for sure. I have worked for them for the past ten years.

There is a load line on their coolers. It's marked with a red line. They shouldn't fill past that mark.

Sometimes it happens that items go above the line when members are digging for their perfect turkey. The employees will usually be out pretty often to level them back down and restock.

Also members think they are helping us when they find them on the floor and put them back in the cases. Which we have strict policies with cold items being placed back on the floor.

Or someone was careless. I would hope that's not the case, but i cannot rule it out.

I am sorry about your negative experience. Let membership know.
