Interested in 2 boxes, one SLR Series A. Hear that 06 has been a great year for these( and most smokes) and these should be great after some age. Loved the ones I have had so far. Looking at a box of Diplomaticos too, but undecided on the 3's or 4's? Great reviews on the Dip 2's too!
Is there a difference between the two besides length? Alot say these are better than the Monte 3's and 4's? Anyone have good/bad experiences with Diplomaticos 3/4's ?
Thanks for any info/input.

I'm not a fan of the Diplomatico line. Most people say they need age (5+ years) and I guess most of the ones I've smoked have been young :dunno:

I like Dips and A's, Gary. All the Dip #4's I have smoked have been 4+ years old and superb; IMHO, far better than Monte #4's of the same or younger age. I have not tried any of the fresh SLR A's, but the '02 and '03 vintages are wonderful if you can still find some. Dip #2's are superb after about 4 - 5 years. I just finished a bunch from '01 that were fabulous.

Can't comment on the Dips, but I can tell you that the SLR A's are very smokable right now and should be awesome after a nice long nap. Mine are in bed right now... :smokingme

I would agree with this statement whole heartedly! Definatley need a few years to come into their own. Worth it if you want to put them down for awhile. If you can't keep your hands off of them, get something else.

Another option for you if you like the piramides would be the Upmann No. 2. These are excellent with a few years under their belt, and ones with age are readily available for a reasonable price. I know, I'm an Upmann whore, but they really are good.

I agree that the Dips are much better with Age.... and if you are like me, you are not liekly to allow something to get 5 years of age on them..

Thanks for the input. I'll have to make a decision? Maybe just 2 boxes of Serie A's, one for now and one for later :scratchhe

Hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We must be related because I whole heartedly agree on DIP's. I haven't smoked one that I like. Of course, I haven't had one with more than 2 years age on it.
