Fantastic beer. I have one of those HDMs resting and have been trying to figure out what to pair with it, sounds like coffee stout has jumped to the top of the list.
I think it's the oatmeal in the mikkeler that brings out some nice caramel and vanilla flavors in the HDM.

I liked the stick once it got rolling. The down side is that CAO sticks take so long to come together. This one had been aging long enough that the cello was turning nicotine yellow. Still the first third was mostly leather and dark tobacco. In the second third the flavors of earth and almonds came in. The almonds were teaming with something to come across like an amaretto flavor. A flavor of raw coffee beans peeked in and out and the bitter flavor of an extremely dark chocolate rippled in and out. It was a decent stick, but it lacked any wow.
