Where is your tongue?

I'm fascinated by the way my appreciation of cigars has evolved over time.

Lately I have discovered that if I take (my now customary) small puffs, and put the tip of my tongue just behind the head of the cigar in my mouth, leaving my sinus open (as I always do now-- a mini retrohale if you will), many cigars provide a cool sweetness that's really excellent. Such as this Federal Cigar El Centurion I'm currently puffing on.

Where's your tongue when you smoke?

on a more serious note, I never paid attention to that. thinking of it, its not that close to the cigar. Does it make that much of a difference?

I take very long, very slow (literally 15+ seconds) draws on the cigar.
I have found that this keeps the cigar burning much cooler, and allows more flavors to develop. I also think it helps the cigar burn more evenly.
I end up with a mouthful of smoke and flavor, rather than a short, hot "puff"

So I'm sitting at my computer probably looking like an idiot trying to figure this out... how the heck do you take a puff while leaving the passage way from your mouth to your sinus open? I can only create suction if my sinuses are closed off from my mouth, or else if I use my lungs to create the suction, which will pull through both my nose and mouth.

EDIT: Wait, are you talking about leaving your sinus open to air, but still closed to your mouth?

You're right -- technically it's closed at the beginning of the puff, and open at the end of each puff once the smoke is in the cavity.

I tend to pull it down and arch it up (that's what it feel like). I try and get a coating of smoke over it.
