Now now. I never said they don't work. Allow me to elucidate:
A 1996 Ford Taurus will get you to and from your favorite b&m. But a 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 will do the same thing faster, more efficiently.
I actually think that analog guages look much better on the outside of a humidor, or visible like the op. However, like the op, I'd have a digital for accuracy ' s sake.

pretty stoked have cigars coming in from cigar bid, and cuban crafters.
Just to note, the shelves will need seasoning, they are raw cedar and as such will suck up humidity.
I removed the HCM beads and replaced with an oasis ultra 2.0 until the shelves are good and seasoned, so at least a couple weeks in 69-70% Rh.

How much taller is it than the 281e? I have a brand new 281e waiting on shelves to be delivered at the end of the month.

I'm very tempted to order one as well. Do you plan on using the beads or oasis once the shelves are seasoned, or do you think the included moisture container will be sufficient? Did you post your youtube video yet?

BTW, our local cigar meetup will be meeting at Bungalow Lakehouse next Thursday (Feb 19th) in case you'd like to join us.

Awesome,, I'll try to plan on that meet up.
I haven't posted a video yet, shelves are still seasoning. I have the oasis in it right now, with boveda and a puck. Its holding at 65 right now but I'm waiting on it to hold a solid 70 for a week before I pull everything out. I have the HCM beads in a ziplock right now waiting. The HCM come in these sock sleeves which i plan to just disperse in the cooler.

I just purchased this same humidor last week off of amazon. I have the humicare electronic humidifier running in it, and will be adding the beads as well once they get here. It has been holding a steady 68* at 75% rh all week. I just dropped the setting on the humidifier to 72% and will begin filling it slowly over the weekend. Looking to keep it around 65-67* at 65% rh. Please let us know how much the humidity drops once you begin filling it, and how long it took to stabilize at your desired rh level. Thanks for the review as well.

i didn't notice a big shift when i added cigars. so with an active humidifier it stays relatively stable. I will say though if you unplug the wineador, it will be easier to maintain and keep the rh up. The fan inside the wineador although doesn't blow hard might be bringing in outside air,, i'm unsure, all i do know is that, i couldn't get it above 65h when it was plugged in and after I unplugged it, it went straight to 70. SO the active fan will cause a drop in rh even if the cooling isn't functioning at that time,, the fan blows continuously.

That's a damn good price. I paid $419 from Air and Water via Amazon. I put 1.5 lbs of 65% heartfelt beads and the humi-care EH Plus electronic humidifier in mine. Cranked it to 78% for a week, and dropped it to 68* and 67% yesterday. It's been holding steady and starting to load it with boxes to get it to 65%. I'm really liking it so far, but can definitely see the need for a cooledor in the very near future. Enjoy!

I already have 2 coolers and humidor. I'm in an old brick building in New York. Gets pretty hot in the summer so with some window ac's. Should be an easy summer. 1.5 was enough beads for you ?

Yes, but I also have the humi-care EH plus active Humidification. I'm going to buy another pound of heartfelt beads for my desktops and cooledor, so I will probably add a little more to the NewAir just for peace of mind. I would say 2 lbs would work perfectly, especially if not using a humi-care, cigar oasis, etc.

Don't trust the temp reading on the front display either. I have mine set at 71*, but my digital hygro is reading 68*. I think it's obviously off by a few degrees. In San Diego, it's pretty dry right now, and daytime temps are averaging 70-75*, and I generally keep my house around 74* year round. Hope that helps.

I’m considering the Newair CC-300, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I spent the last 15 minutes doing a bit of number crunching to figure out how much it would cost me. I would use a multi-step process including credit card rewards, shopping portals, discounted gift cards, and a best buy discount code to help ensure I got the best possible deal.

Step 1: Use a points-earning credit card (Chase Ink Plus) to buy discounted Best Buy e-gift cards from giftcards.com. They currently have a $200 gift card for $186.16 and a $164.31 gift card for $152.94. That would provide $364.31 in Best Buy gift cards for a cost of $339.10 (~7% savings) and net me 339 Chase Ultimate Reward points.

Step 2: Access bestbuy.com through the Discover Card deals portal for 5% cash back.

Step 3: Apply the discount code (smallkitchen20) to my cart to receive a 20% discount, bringing the cost of the Newair CC-300 to $335.99 ($356.15 for me including VA sales tax).

Step 4. Pay with the Best Buy e-gift cards, resulting in a remaining gift card balance of $8.16.

This would mean that this purchase would initially cost me $339.10 out of pocket and net me the following:

339 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (I personally value these at $0.02 per point)
$17.80 cash back from the Discover Card portal
$8.16 remaining gift card balance
335 Best Buy Reward Points (~$6)

If I subtract the cash back from the Discover Card portal and the remaining gift card balance, then my total “cost” for this item would be $313.14 and I would still have earned 332 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points (~$6) and 335 Best Buy Reward Points (~$6).

Please note that none of these discounts/methods are guaranteed and are only based upon my past experiences using similar techniques. The Discover Card portal states that you must use your Discover Card and not use promo codes to receive the cash back, but it has never been a problem for me. I may be able to reduce my costs a bit more if I gave it a little more thought.
