I read a post that most of us newbies don't do such a good job of introducing ourselves so after being here for a couple of weeks I thought I would try to improve on my initial post in the Intro thread. My name is Dave and I live in Dayton, Tennessee. I share my life with my best friend and bride, Dini and our 6 rescue dogs and a Citron Crested Cockatoo. I grew up in Georgia, went into the Navy program and entered my life's work in the Commercial nuclear power industry in the Chicago, IL area in the mid 1970's. During my spare time I completed my college education. My career now is nearing 4 decades. I have retired twice but after moving here to Tennessee I am now doing the same thing again for the Tennessee Valley Authority. One day I will be done for good. I still love Chicago and consider it the finest "big" city I have ever been in. Loved my 25 plus years there and to this day remain a die hard Bear and Cub fan. My college team has always been and always will be the Georgia Bulldogs.
I enjoy fly fishing for trout and consider it one of the finest pursuits that a man can have. The beauty of the sport, the fish and the surroundings just give me a feeling of well being. I enjoy upland bird hunting with my old AH Fox A Model SS made in Philadelphia in 1917 but I lost my beautiful Gordon Setter and hunting partner back in late 2013. We had 12 wonderful falls together and I'm not sure that falls will ever be the same again.
I also enjoy pipes and cigars, fine wine and whiskey. A good smoke and a good drink is one of the last legal pleasures that are allowed in our society today. I have many other interests such as pocket knives and believe it or not at 64 years of age I quite enjoy the role play games on my PS4. I just completed Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age Inquisition. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
I have enjoyed my short time here. The willingness of the brothers here to share information is quite refreshing. The brotherhood here has increased my knowledge of CC's ten fold. As I write this I am on pins and needles awaiting my first CC order. Some brothers have even offered encouragement to try to alleviate some of my misgivings with all the things that could go wrong with this order. I thank them for that.
So this has been a very rewarding couple of weeks. I look to donating to help keep this going as soon as I am allowed and I hope to add value to the brotherhood by sharing my cigar experiences with you as I get to know more of you. I am really looking forward to meeting some of you at the Tennessee Herf in April. It's always good to put a name to a face. Thanks for having me.
