Another Birthday 'Gar Recommendation Question

Okay, my birthday is still a ways off. However, I want to buy a good cigar to age for at least a couple of months before August gets here. Right now my favorite stick is the La Aurora Barrel Aged robusto. However, it is out of production and the choices seem to be buying a box for $75 shipped or a larger size at $42 for ten. Neither of those options work for me. I don't have $75 to drop on a box and I don't want a larger size.

The combination of hearty aged tobacco, wood, cream, and sweetness were perfect to me. I kept thinking to myself, "this is exactly what a cigar should taste like." So, does anybody have a suggestion for something similar that I can try?

I was looking to spend no more than $10 a stick for a single.
I feel like an idiot though. I checked CI and they were all sold out. So, I assumed all of their conglomerates would be out. On page three of my google search I found some coronas at Cigar.com. I'm still open to suggestions though. These things are getting hard to find and La Aurora doesn't have them on their page any more. It may not be long before I need an alternative

Thompson also has some Robustos, but they are asking double the price per stick compared to a box from JR. I might still pop for a couple though.

I would but money is tight until the munchkin gets out of preschool. $720 a month for child care is actually more than my mortgage.

It's funny, I got a lot of great suggestions for my thread. When I walked into the humidor at the B&M though, it was overwhelming! I spent about 10 minutes looking around. Then I saw the LP9 and it just called my name and I had to jump on it. Another factor is that Drew Estate is doing an event at the B&M next Friday and I wanted to try at least 1 before the party.

Based on the kind of profile you're looking for, I'd check out some Ecuadorian Sumatra-wrapped cigars.

Perhaps the La Aurora 1495? It's available in five packs from Famous. The sumatra wrapper is going to have that extra syrupy sweetness that the Barrel Aged picked up from the rum barrels. It won't be exactly the same, but it will have some of that thick sweet flavor.

Personally, I'd also look at the EP Carillo core line, and perhaps one of the Tatuaje lines that have the sumatra wrapper as well. I'm not a huge fan, it's too sweet for me, but if you like the barrel aged, something tells me sumatra is right up your alley.

EDIT: If you want a cheap stick that has that same kind of sweetness, try the Rocky Patel Edge Sumatra. It's a bit of a one-note cigar, but it will be rich and sweet... and cheap!

The LP9 is one my personal favorites, as well. My local B&M is also having a Drew Estate event. I hope I can resist buying a box of those suckers... they're just so good!

My birthday smoke this year was an Oliva V Melanio Figurado that I thoroughly enjoyed. I plan on getting a 2nd for my honeymoon.

Where is your local B&M?
I'm going to have to be very smart at the Drew Estate event, as things could get out of hand with the wallet rather quickly. Man, that cigar was just so enjoyable!
The Oliva line is next up for what I want to try. Maybe I'll grab the one you mentioned.

Good Karma Cigar in Amarillo, TX.

We're going to a sandals resort in Grenada. 3 weeks from this very moment I'll be sitting on the beach on an island, smoking a selection of fine cigars and drinking scotch old enough to buy its own scotch!

Joking aside, I definitely plan to bring several fantastic cigars. It's my honeymoon... Why not?! The list includes an Oliva V Melanio, a Padron 1926 #9, an LP9, a T52, Arturo Fuenta Hemingway and possibly a Dirty Rat but am not sure yet. The fiance is bringing a few Dunhill 1907s, a Dunhill Aged and an LP9 for herself.

Well, @ZippoGeek settled the question. He bombed me with two Davidoff Nicaraguas and instructions not to smoke them until my birthday. I would post pictures, but my phone won't transfer them over.

So, thanks a million Zippo. That was beyond generous and wholly surprising. I greatly appreciate it and will definitely be thinking of you on my birthday when I smoke my first Davidoff.
