I'm a fan of the Lonsdale vitola. Is there really a big difference in flavor between the lonsdale and lancero?

Lanceros have definitely made a come back! I'm glad I was introduced to the vitola, I always thought they were funny looking in cigar shops (if I saw them). Now, I just can't get enough.

Okay - I just ordered the Tat Lancero sampler from Small Batch (I don't waste any time). Compared their price to CI's and it's way better!! $79 compared to $95, plus free shipping? How does Small Batch even make money?
I'll be honest, I thought I've had one before but it didn't sound familiar so I googled it. Nope!

I assume the idea is much more wrapper vs filler? Do they burn hot? Need yo smoke 'em extra slow?

This February is my first swim in the Lancero pool.

Started the month with an Oliva Serie V, and a HG Drumstick.

I've smoked both the Serie V and the HG before, but never the lance. There were flavors in both that I never picked up in other sizes of the same cigar.

I'm sold on the Lancero. Just wish I had more and didn't have this stupid cold.

Okay, so in addition to having the best price by a country mile; free shipping; and giving me the extra 10% off my order after the fact, the guys at Small Batch got me my Tatuaje Lancero Sampler in 2 days flat. Highly recommend these guys!! (y)(y)

Can't wait to smoke em in a couple of weeks in honor of Lancero February!! Thanks jonnylieberman for the suggestion!

I do love me some lanceros! Got my Tat sampler from Small Batch a couple months ago but haven't broke into them yet... YET! They can smoke hot, but with minimal attention you shouldn't have any issues.

Do it! Can't wait for my Tatuaje Lancero Sampler to get here now...
The La Riqueza lance out of that sampler is fantastic. So is the brown and the black.

Hang out here long enough and this place will ruin you for large ring gauges. Lanceros FTW!
That's Mold, Man!

Yes, kind of, and kind of.

The wrapper/filler ratio is the key to the lance. Wrappers are the best, most flavorful leaf in a cigar, and lanceros maximize your enjoyment thereof. Smoke em just fast enough to keep em lit and they'll blow your mind.

I'm actually smoking, I think, my very first Lancero tonight. I'm on vacation and stopped in a local B&M and picked up 3 Tat black label lanceros. I'd heard good things and know what? True! I'm throughly enjoying this stick!
Pretty goddamned good way to start!

Couldn't wait any longer to start Lancero February, so I fired up the Tatuaje Fausto with a glass of Port. Let me just say...DAMN -- what a HUGE difference in overall flavor with a Lance! Thanks for the suggestion @jonnylieberman!
Now that you got a good starting point with that sampler. May I suggest trying to find an Edgar Hoill Lancero.
It is probably my favorite lance from 2014.

Here's a review

Not like you aren't sliding down that slope at break-neck speed, but the DPG blue lances are sleepers - agents and the three Caldwell Varsity line lances are tasty mofos if you can keep them lit.
