I have great willpower, so when I saw this upper, I initially walked away thinking the guy would go lower, which he did. $325 for a full upper with a nickel boron BOTL works for me. I'm ok with the 9" rails now, especially after I changed outthe flash to Comps on both guns. Had to put an extra thinner crush washer on the 300 to get the comp set right. The 300 BLK is on the lower, the 556 is above.

I already had an extra set of MAgpul flip sights, so those will go on the 556 with its optics and the 300 will get Troys. Guess I'll have to build another lower for for the fun of it.

I think someone recently posted up a link to $39 stripped lowers. At that price it's hard not to just throw three or four of those in the back of the gun safe just as future purchase insurance!
Yep, but those probably need to be drilled. Lol. AND most companies won't ship to tge Peoples Republic of California

80% are the only ones I can shipped here. The rest, I have to buy from a gun dealer, pay the fees and wait 10 days, no big deal. I can actually get another Anderson stripped lower for $46 here.

Well the 5.56 and the 300 are built. The 5.56 is on top and the 300 is lower. Have optics (bought a Bushnell AR scope) for my 5.56, as well as BUIS for both. Now to figure out which optics for my 300. Muhahaha. Both rock firing wise, as I already put 20 rounds through both. Love the 300 though.

On the 300, I installed an ALS fire control group and the Daniel Defense stock and grip. Looks great imhu.

The 5.56 with the optics installed. It really reaches out and touches things lol. it already is zero'do in at 100. The bdc on the optics work great,

Great looking guns...A friend introduced me to ARs this past saturday at the range...crap, I want one for hunting now but I guess It will take a while...my budget is tight so I think I'll start researching and buying bits and pieces to put one together (eventually)

Question...I am Brand spanking new to ARs and have not really done any research. I know that by being the pieces and putting one together, I get a fully custom gun but am I save that much over buying a ready assembled weapon?

If you're smart, yes.
Lots of people go the build route because you get Your Rifle, Your Way at minimum. If it matches something offered off the shelf, you can usually save ~200 bucks building it on your own.

But a lot of people build dumb rifles in dumb manners and end up throwing away a lot of money.

Thanks Alex...I'll start researching about what I might need/want...It would be a hunting weapon by the way.

I was thinking about a cheap bolt action riffle but the AR is simply cool.

No problem. There's plenty of places to ask for build help.

FWIW, a bolt gun makes a better hunting rifle in the vast majority of cases.

And I can get it at about half price...and faster as well. Crap...times like these are when I wish a had a lot of money, the decisions would be a lot easier.

My advice is take your time. Build the AR you want. I was just very fortunate on my two latest builds. But, I knew what I wanted and how to do it. To me, barrel, trigger group and bolt carrier group (bcg) are the most important part of the build. But that's my opinion only. The furniture, grip and stock are preferences. Optics are another personal choice.
