EDIT: NEVERMIND, THIS IS A COMPRESSOR MODEL. :(

FYI, I just saw the 28-ct Vinotemps at my local Seattle area Costco for $199 if anyone is looking for storage, or hell, even an actual fridge for their wine, crazy idea right!?! lol Not sure if they're in other cities, but might be worth a look. For the locals, I saw them at the Federal Way store.

Got the same deal at the Costco a couple of miles from me in Knoxville...

They had about 6 of them out on the floor at that price when I was there last Sunday...

Problem is in the picture. They are condensor model. If you're not looking for cooling then it's fantastic
Damn you're right... this is a compressor model. I didn't even look that closely as I just noticed it being the 28-ct model and that it would be the thermo. I didn't know they have a 28-ct compressor version. My bad!! :(

I prefer compressor conversions as they give me quite a bit more accuracy and efficiency when paired with an active humidification system. I never really went the thermoelectric with passive humidification route; I just couldn't see the benefit. Too bad they don't have a 50 bottle model.... can't find them for under $400 too regularly.

Do you have an etc installed? Is it loud when it comes on and do you store only boxes?

do you use the refrigeration? How's condensation/humidity? I heard nasty things about this with compressors...

In my experience, I'm able to better control humidity and cooling levels better with compressor than TE.

I haven't observed any significant difference in condensation between the two. If you lower the temperature of a unit with with an evaporation coil or cold plate below the dew point temperature, condensation will form.

Using a compressor model requires installation of a temperature and humidity controller, and I've had success with an active humidification device versus passive.

This is just my opinion on the matter. There is clearly a ton of folks out there that firmly believe TE is the only way to go.

Your 28 bottle compressor unit intrigued me. Any way of you having enough time to do a small write up of your setup with a few pics included ? And then post it for the board. Thanks
