For me, it was 1956 and I was six yrs. old. My uncle had lit a big maduro and it smelled so good, I kept asking what it tasted like. My mom told him, "Give it to him." I puffed it and I LIKED it! I tried to give it back and she said, "No, you sit there and smoke it all!" In quick order, I got retching sick and ran outside. Guess she figgered I'd never pick another one up. She was wrong!

First one that I can remember the name of (because it was the first one I really enjoyed) was the Hemingway Short Story. Paid about three times the MSRP because I bought it at the Davidoff kiosk in Vegas at Paris. Still, it was quite delicious and set me down this slope.

Some cheap cigar I bought late at night from a grocery store or something. It came 6 in a pack, in glass tubes. I don't recall hating it enough not to want another.

I have no idea what my first cigar was because honestly I could not have been more than 10 or 11. My Dad used to smoke cigars which is what clearly sparked my fascination with them. But from time to time I would get to try a few puffs from whatever he smoked giving me my first real taste of a cigar.

Ironically not too long ago I was given a PDR 1878 capa maduro and it immediately brought me back to my earliest cigar memory. I am sure that is not what he smoked but its amazing how a sound or smell can bring memories rushing back like that. All it took was one puff and I was immediately transported back to our yard and taking my first puffs of a cigar. I wish I could go back in time and find out what it was or even smoke a cigar with my dad now.

I honestly can not remember what the first cigar I ever had was. I think it was a garcia y vega not that I even consider it a real cigar anymore. I can remember the first time I smoked a pipe.
I was a freshman in college and got a pretty major part in the first play I auditioned for. At the first rehearsal the director gave me a pipe some matches and a bag of captain black. She had somebody show me how to light and smoke it. Said I don't want to see you around campus without it. You will be a natural by opening night.
Thank you Missouri Southern for starting the habit!

First was back in '96. A $6 stick from a sixth ave shop near bleeker.

Smoked it back home in my '95 integra while listening to dark side.

Hadn't picked up another until Sept of last year. Can't believe the years wasted.

Mine was in Vegas also at a Davidoff kiosk. I foolishly asked for a Cohiba, since it was the only name I knew lol. He laughed and said try this one instead.

My first cigars were a Backwoods, followed by an ACID Blondie. Both of which were quickly phased out because of palate change.

My first "real" cigar was a RP 99 Connecticut that tasted like I was smoking grass, as in my front lawn type.

My 1st was a Phillies Titan. There were 4 of us that always got together to play football at our friends house. This was middle school, so about '90 or so. Phillies Titans looked to be the best to us b/c they were big, rappers smoked Phillies blunts (we didn't know what they put in them at that point in time, no internet to research!), and the package looked so cool to us.
We used to puff tough on those after our backyard games!
The 1st real one that I had, that I can actually remember, was in December. A Montecristo white gifted to me by a co-worker.
That's the cigar that started me on this path of enjoyment, which in turn led me to this forum, which in turn will most likely be my demise (in a good way!)!!
