I've been buying up all the good CCs I see because of this fear of the SLIGHT chance this passes. Once this passes, the dark ages of the cigar hobby start and it will take a long time to recover. I believe Raul said that the only way he goes along with restoring relations between Cuba and the US is if the US gives up Guantanamo Bay...I don't see that happening, even with the current status of the base.

Considering how Raul has been poking the bear with inviting North Korean officials to the island(a couple years ago), this bill shouldn't even be considered...but there's a lot of foreign relations that the US partakes in that i do not approve. These are the same idiots that gave BP a break in their fine despite continued findings how the spill is still effecting the ecosystem. These are the same idiots that repeatedly help arm resistant groups that will later use those arms to attack our allies. I can go on but I'm getting annoyed and it's better that I stop thinking about our idiot government officials.

I don't think this has a chance in hell of passing with a Presidential election coming and Florida being so key to winning the election. The hate for the Castro regime is very real in South Florida and that bloc of voters that left Cuba or whose family felt as though they were forced to leave have tremendous influence. I think it will be at least 4 to 5 years before the embargo is ended.

Higher pricing, poorer quality, more counterfeits...Truly a bummer for the CC world.
I agree. Unless Habanos SA has some massive hidden surplus, they will not be able to produce product enough to supply US demand. Thus quality standards hit bottom, prices hit top. For CC smokers who currently have a reliable source, this spells doom for current pricing. Tennessee Dave probably said it best. There's no way this legislation gets through a Republican controlled House and Senate during an election.

I've had many Cubans. They r on par with Dominican sticks. Really as for the smoke, there is nothing remarkable. It's the novelty of what u can't have. Not that it's better.

I was in this camp as well for many years but have since discovered the flaw in my thinking. I have had the opportunity over the last couple of weeks of experiencing the Cubans from some of the top marcas. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is something uniquely different about Cuban tobacco. I smoke a lot of NC's and enjoy many of them very much but if given a choice I would only smoke Cubans.
