Can someone who does the tuck please explain it? I've tried it, taken a picture, posted the picture, and when I looked at it I thought "Damn that looks ridiculous"!The thumb tuck itself grinds my gears, who came up with that fairy shit?

Lol i had a buddy do this with an oliva g special g too funnyWhen I see someone smoking a Fuente Hemingway from the wrong end. Anytime I give a guest one I make sure to tell them which end to light.
I know this all too well... That shit should stay at the golf course.Latest happening. I go into a B&M to enjoy a stick in their lounge for my lunch break and just sit down and light up. And I overhear two of the stores regular fella's a couple chairs away all dressed in shirt and ties talking about people's attire and the one fella is ranting about how classless people are nowadays not dressing to impress all the time. And how even on weekends he still dresses up just not with the tie, and on and on and on.
Meanwhile Im sitting there in my Carhartt jacket, and work pants and doing all I can to resist walking over and snapping these pompous bastards necks with my meaty paws. I just wanted a cigar and an hour of relaxation. Instead Im stuck listening to two idiots stroke each other's egos. After a half hour of this non stop I had to leave. Not worth getting in trouble with the management for me makin a bloody mess in their lounge. They have nice wall hangings, that surely would've been damaged by bodies bouncing off them. Upside is I did finish my stick, just in the privacy of my work truck on the way to the next call.
So to answer the OP's question, what grinds my flippin' gears is people talking down about others in a lounge setting. Keep your arrogant self centered stuff to yourself. A cigar lounge is where ALL should feel welcome.
The thumb tuck is brought to you by the same person that tastes 47 different flavors in every cigar; Brooks at Halfwheel. The thumb tuck itself grinds my gears, who came up with that fairy shit?
First time for me. Have never seen/heard of this before.
Ok. I've never held my cigar like that. And I don't think I'm ever going to try it.
That's funny. When I did a quick search for a good example, Halfwheel was the first one I found. The thumb tuck is brought to you by the same person that tastes 47 different flavors in every cigar; Brooks at Halfwheel.
No offense intended by this as I know a great deal of you are from the east coast.Latest happening. I go into a B&M to enjoy a stick in their lounge for my lunch break and just sit down and light up. Yeah. It all depends on the area and the individuals in the shop. I've met a lot of really great people in shops all around the country. I've also met some pretty shitty people. That's one of the things that really drew me to the cigar community in the first place. It doesn't matter the walk of live or the career or income, when smoking a cigar we all have something in common. No offense intended by this as I know a great deal of you are from the east coast.
From my experience this happens a lot out there (not claiming to have a lot, but some). California is no different.
We do not have a lounge here in the sticks of Missouri but I was in one in Tulsa, OK over the weekend and witnessed the following..
Off duty young cop and his g/f in t shirts and jeans talking to an old man in a golf hat and a business man in a suit. Small talk started and then introductions made. These guys had never met before and bonded over a smoke. Shook hands and departed. THIS IS WHAT I AM HERE FOR! Not the pompous BS!
Buffalo Bill from "Silence of the Lamb" had the tuck down pretty good! That's funny. When I did a quick search for a good example, Halfwheel was the first one I found.

^this^ but worse: with the lounge cutter.Lick the end prior to cutting it.
from my experience what is does is soften the wrapper and makes a split or a tear less likely, also it used to be a normal thing back when most cigars weren't properly stored and so it was required that you wet the cap or would certainly ruin your cigar. i do wet the end prior to cutting my cigarI've seen guys lick their cigars prior to smoking them...they're cigars not blunts. I don't get it.
those guys being the reason i always bring my own cutter and torch. i wet the end, and only use my personal cutter to clip after that. in fact the only time i dont use my personal is when the tobacconist cuts and lights for me.^this^ but worse: with the lounge cutter.
