CAO Vision humidor question

A friend of mine gave me this CAO Vision humidor and I am thinking of using it for some additional storage. However, I'm put off by some of the reviews. I see that the digital hydrometer is crap, but what about tossing in a Boveda and some sticks? Think it will hold? Would I need to season it first? The entire thing is plastic with a cedar lined tray (MDF?) inside. I usually use a tupperdor with 65% packs. Would I need to go a little higher for this? Just don't want to use it if it's going to be a pain to maintain. Thoughts?

And no, a coolerdor isn't an option at this point :) - just want to know if this would be considered functional and not kill my sticks, lol.

I saw one of those on ebay back and really really liked em! Try seasoning it first you can never go wrong there. Throw 2 65s if you have extras or get 69%s in there and give it a week or two and see where its holding. I imagine itll be ok. If not you can ship it to me ... I mean umm... use it as an accessory box ;)

Personally, I would take a wide bowl of distilled water and place it inside the humidor, close it and leave it for one week. Don't open it. At the end of one week, place a hygrometer (that you know is reading correctly) inside the box and leave it overnight. Check to see that your humidity level is at least where you want to be if not above. Once you reach that goal, place two 65% or 69% Boveda packs in the box (as @luckysaturn13 mentioned) and leave them for one day.
Check your hygrometer readings the next day.

I've seen them in person, in my opinion it's just a little better in quality to the 20 count humidors you can get from pretty much any site with their logo on it. I would think that it would work but not very well, you probably will have to monitor it because it probably won't seal extremely well.

That being said; it would make a great show humidor, desk humidor, dry box. I just wouldn't trust it unattended for an extended period of time.

People will smoke what they like. Great thing about BOTL people can post cigar questions without judgement. Just because it's not your personal preference doesnt mean others cant enjoy them.

@Benjamin enjoy the new humi

Thanks guys! No cigars came with it - but I do dig CAO's stuff. I'll try and season it a bit and toss a Boveda pack or two in it and see how it goes!

I don't smoke a lot of CAOs but they do make good cigars but the Vision was not one of them(IMO)...The price made it seem a lot worse.

Most 20-count humidors don't work very well so I can't see how it could be much worse. Plastic is a good material for a humidor, actually... and MDF is OK (it is actually less likely to warp), provided it is not outgassing bad odors.
