About 10 years ago I got my humidor while working at at a cigar shop. My only two reasons for buying the one I did was it has a glass top and it was big. Looking on this site, it's not that big, but for a college kid, it was great.

Anyway, the glass top never sealed well and I am looking for a better option. I have an ammo can humidor I got with some LaFincas, but that doesn't hold all my cigars. My wife and I are also expecting our first child shortly, so money for cigars is not readily available. Because of this, I like the idea of a Tupperware humidor(s). I already have the beads from trying to get my current humidor up above 58%, so all I can see I need are one or two good containers. Any recommendations on style or brand that would work better?

Thanks,

Sean

I have a ziploc one I got from Walmart and I believe other brothers have gotten theirs from Target. Comes in different sizes so you can choose the size you want and it has a gasket to seal better than some other tupperwares may. There are also some threads on here that could help you get your glass top sealing better so you could still use it as a display humidor while bulk storing in the tupperdor

Erik. I'll have to check that out, I have both close by. Not really looking to fix the old humidor, don't have time right now. However maybe I could find it a new home.

Jkittle I honestly don't know. I'd guess about 200, however when I told my wife I had 25 pipes, she counted to find out I had that many corn cobs...so probably 400.

This. Buy it and don't look back. You'll thank @Erikcooper later.
Not kidding.

And you need a new couch to sleep on? :)

Have you thought about going the coolidor route?

Thankfully she found out a few years back. I learned then never to count whatever item's may come into question.

I did, however they look bigger than I'd like to go right now, or be able to fill. I am however going to tell me neighbor about this idea as he likes to by inexpensive bundle cigars and just mentioned being out of room today.

It sounds like you may be getting into cooler or wineador territory there. Lots of us buy cheap wine coolers on craigslist, seal up the drain hole, and you're ready to rock

I saw those threads. I may have to look more into that, just not sure I have time for another project like the winador until after baby arrives. However I doubt I'll have more time then....

Maybe tomorrow I can get some measurements of my current humidor. Would be quicker than counting and might be helpful.

My recommendation would be this one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ziploc-60-Qt-Large-Deep-Weathertight-Storage-Box-Clear/38345584
$17 with an airtight seal from WallyWorld.
Two of these might work great. I think that's about the space I have in hone humidor according to the sight the are available for pickup at a local Columbus Walmart!

Also, thanks for the quick replies. I thought I might wake up to a few suggestion, not get all these replies before getting my ipad turned off.

Something overlooked from your op, that has been a common theme of late. When you say beads, you do mean HF, right? Because you don't want to setup an airtight container for storage with SAP "beads"

I am not sure what I have. I bought my most recent batch from cigars international. I also have two Boveda packs too.

Humidor is 19L X 10W X 12H

When they say, "coolidor" or "cooler", they're likely referring to an ice-chest with a snug lid. Cheaper in the start-up than a wine cooler and can store a heck of a lot of sticks!
