Cigar Oasis always got a lot of hate on that "other" forum, but I gotta say, I love mine! I've got the XL model in my 250 count humi and the thing is rock steady at 64-65% It's fill and forget for 2-3 months. I replace the foam cartridge every 6 mos. to prevent mold issues. That's all there is to it for me; no beads, no Boveda.

Anybody else use one? Thoughts?

Ive got an oasis in my cabinet...

I've also got about 4lbs of KL and about a dozen bovedas in there...

So the oasis rarely ever kicks on..

but.. I love that I can leave the house for weeks at a time.. and never worry about my cabinet.. the oasis is always there to "help out" if the KL and bovedas start to go dry...

Ive got a pretty much set and forget system in place.. I have to add a little DW to the KL about once every 6 weeks or so between about November and March.. but between March and November I might only add DW once or twice... pretty much completely worry free...

Very cool that you have some redundancy built into the system...;)

i have an oasis in my 300 count. first thing i did was knife out the foam. i run an interesting setup. i filled the cartridge with heartfelt beads and use this oasis for its fan purposes only. i have it plugged into a digital timer that kicks off and on throughout the day to provide air movement. it also has a secondary fan that gives the air movement across the top of the humi. i know it's a bit much, but i have no worries when i'm away, or forget to check on it. heartfelt beads are THE BEST

Well that's interesting - never heard that before.

Why not?!

I personally love Cigar Oasis. I plan on buying the Magna when I buy a Tower 3000 count. I think they are a better option compared to the $221 Hydra-LG that requires you to replace the cartridge every 6 months for the tune of $35. I've owned a CO Ultra for my desktop and wasn't as impressed but I think it was overkill anyway for my subpar 40 capacity.

I have an XL in the top and bottom of my large wineador (142 bottles). I switched out the green foam of death with beads and it works amazing. I bought the extra fans kit and wired it right to the fridge circulation fans. It is about as "set it and forget it" as it could be.

I'm using Joe Cool beads off Ebay- much cheaper than HF. I heard of a guy who took the foam out of an Oasis and replaced it with gel balls to eliminate mold fears. I use a dist/water solution with 20% PG and I have no mold worries with my beads.

I can't believe they'ld use foam in those, superpolymer gel would work a lot better, and it wouldn't grow mold. I guess they like the razors and razorblades model of doing business.

I guess there's a plus side, you throw out the cartridge and you have a lot less chance of mold. I just see it as very wasteful- with a little maintanence you'ld get the same results.
