I like tequila. Just starting out. Leaning towards Anejo, but Reposados are nice, too.

Anyone else? Discussion of special knowledge would be appreciated.

Never mind, just checked your profile.

Go to El Callejon in Encinitas - they have a killer Tequila menu in their bar. Last time I was there, there were almost 200 tequilas on it.

My favorite of all time is the Del Sol Anejo

They had Cazul on the Drew Estate pairings video and spoke very highly of it. Seems reasonably priced too.

Not a spirit I can partake in, so I'll be of no help beyond that.

While I haven't tried dozens, I've come to prefer Corralejo reposado (under $50) and Casa Noble Anejo(under $100). Don Julio 1492 (over $100) is pretty wonderful.

The Don Julio 1942 is one of my faves also. Almost like a sipping Bourbon....
Cava Antigua is also a very fine Anejo sipping Tequila. There are soooo many good choices. Patron Blanco is a very smooth
and I believe good for "beginners" but, just like cigars, what I like you may not. And, just like cigars, it's fun to sample a bunch to find what you like.
Good luck and enjoy!

I learned the hard way with that stuff.....maybe a local spirt store? I'm always amazed at some of the "mom n pop" knowledge....love it

My personal favorite for the last 3 or 4 years is Chamucos Anejo.
I also enjoy
Chinaco Anejo & Don Julio Anejo & Casa Noble Anejo
Something you should consider trying is "Sotol" which is not very well known among US Tequila Drinkers, but it is very similar to Tequila, yet it's not a true Tequila and it's about half the price. My favorite is Hacienda De Chihuahua Anejo

Sign me up, Clint. I've been sorta keeping an eye out for the leather satchels they throw down to the Matador post-fight, but they only sell cheep ones at plaza monumental.
What about El Matador tequila?

:)
Is sotol anything like pulque?
