The humidity in my wine cooler won't rise above 55 percent consistently, it keeps falling back to 55. What's going on? This wine cooler has no drain plug. It's a 6 bottle cuisinart

All cigars should be sent to my house for testing.

Ill report back to you once all have been smoked and let you know how to fix this humidity problem

:D
He didn't say there were cigars in it.

I figured it out... the hygrometer is bad. There was a little water pooled in the bottom of the cooler. So, I guess it was very humid in there. I had the cigars boxed so I don't think it hurt them.

It's thermoelectric. All the small wine chillers are now days. But, I've read some chillers have an evaporation cycle that lowers the humidity, so I freaked out when I saw how low the humidity was.

This unit is probably going to my parents and I'll get a new one. It works but... it's not ideal for cigars.

so you'd get a different brand?
Cause most of the ones I have seen look like that. But I have not paid much attention.

I'd probably get the igloo. Fewer wine-specific features, which could only be a good thing. Plus it will go up to 70F. The Cuisinart stops at 68. And the temp readout blinks constantly when it's past 63F. That's even silly from a wine perspective, as there are plenty of ports that serve well at higher temperatures.

But, the Cuisinart does work, and it does seem to hold humidity well after all... too well.

if it goes up to 70, you'll be in danger of beetles if it's not working.

I've heard of beetles hatching in lower temperatures, though it is very rare. I'm not even sure science, or cigar smokers, fully understand what makes beetles hatch, though higher temperature does seem to be one factor.

F/D, look into "Culinair" on Ebay @ $109.00 I had one and it was perfect, but at 16btl, it proved too small, so I'm going to a 32btl that's also therm/elect. If your new cooler still sweats, lay a 9 or 10" stocking of beads at the back wall and it will help absorb and control excess condensation. IMO; wine coolers make the best med/capacity storage answer- no matter the climate.

I checked the humidity today with a good digital hygrometer... it's at 52 on the top rack. Way too low. So, I guess I am still having problems. The wine cooler has one large Boveda 65%, an ounce of silica beads, and two gel travel humidifiers... I don't understand why humidity is barely higher than the outside room.

I'm going to try a few humi-pillows and see if I can get it to budge.
