Update - picked up the linked ziplock container. Hope to get it cleaned up tomorrow night and loaded up over the weekend. Need to find a pet smart for some kitty litter it appears.

You literally can't go wrong as long as the container is a)airtight, b)foodsafe, c)clean, and d)big enough to hold what you want it to gold.

Inside a tupperdore, you'll need a couple bovedas, and that's it. If you're using a traditional leaky wooden Chinese humidor, you need a lot of Bovedas, but in an airtight food storage container, maybe a pack per every 50 is more than enough. I have a small tupperdore, holds about 20 cigars, and I've had a 8g boveda in there for almost a year and it's been enough. Grab a few 40g Bovedas and you'll be fine.

Anyway, the glass top never sealed well and I am looking for a better option.
I got a couple glass-tops wi/ samplers and had that issue. I spread a film of silicone along the sealing surfaces and left it open to dry for a week. (don't close that lid B-4 then or it won't open.) Seasoned them and put my sticks in and they're doing great!

I picked up a bag of Mimi cat litter from Walmart. 4 pounds for under $5. It is so easy to use. Like many on here have said pour it in a shallow dish or knee high panty hose put in your new tupperdor with a calibrated hygrometer let it sit for 24 hours and adjust rh as necessary. Then you put your sticks in and let rest for 24 hours. Adjust rh as necessary.

Yup. MiMi litter from Wal-Mart is the ticket!
If you're putting any cedar (old cigar boxes?) in, try to make sure they're seasoned before you add the kl. I found that MiMi litter came out about 65% RH right from the bag. That 60L Ziploc you got, the bag of MiMi, and a handful of Boveda, and you're set for about the cheapest, most reliable storage you're going to find. Good luck!

This thread is actually a bit of a godsend. I had outgrown my two jaridors (jaredores?) and have about 30 more sticks on the way. I grabbed one of the ziplock containers on a whim as it looked like it would work. Glad to hear my instincts were right on!

Thanks for the reassurance! And for the heads up on the boxes needing seasoned first.

How much of the KL should I try and add?

As much as you have room for, really.
Can't have too much.
Maybe use the HF Bead calculator to find a minimum, but I think many people usually shoot for double that, beads and kl alike.
If you do Boveda and get enough of them in there you can probably forgo the kl all together, but it's such a cheap effective medium that it really can't hurt you.

Well to my surprise, one wash got all the smell out. In fact when I asked my pregnant wife what she smelled, she said "smells like nothing." Perfect! Tonight I'll add the only cigar box I have that's cedar and a shot glass or two of water and paper towels
