She said he has shoplifted, stolen money from her, punched a police officer and is nearing expulsion from school. She told the paper that she hopes this arrest will be a wake-up call for her son,

Yup...sounds like a gameboy was the perfect present for this little tike....he definately deserves a present like that for all his hard work...unreal!

:hysterica Better yet why even buy presents at all? Since he did all that, it was only a matter of time.

27 year old single mother and a 12 year old son.....bad situation.
no I know...and I'll get off of my soap-box now...I just see these kind of situations on a daily basis. Truth be told..I have no idea what kind of a parent she is...I've just seen too many situations like this when the parents were royally screwing up any chance their kids had...but like I said, in all fairness, I don;t know what the whole situation is.

Also, a 63 year old GREAT grandmother also has to make you wonder!!

Funny as hell IMO.

Serves him right.

Not to sure about the use of the resources on the police force though...must be a small town.

That reminds me of my most idiotic Christmas moment. I was old enough to know better also. Both my brother and I knew where the presents were....car trunk. So, messing around I told my little brother I knew how to pick a lock. Of course, being 5 years younger he was oh so impressed. So, i roll out there with my swiss army knife and start acting like I'm picking the lock. The trunk flies open (much to my surprise) and we see all the glorious gifts. The problem is I didn't pick the lock I stripped it and I knew I was in for it when mom and dad came home. I use my paper route money to hire an emergency lock man to come out and replace the lock. He came out and replaced before mom and dad came home. Well, my parents found out when they tried to unlock the car trunk. My dad, "honey the key to the trunk doesn't work". I had to go to my dad and I said, "well this one will". They got the whole story and were very erked but I guess they felt the hit to my wallet was punishment enough. They still like to laugh about that one every year.

i think he would have been arrested way before.... can't see many kids getting away with punching a cop.

Ya got that right! Hopefully they can smack some sense into this kid. A gameboy should not be on the list
