I actually bought a 5 pack of el productos thinking that George Burns was onto something. Well, he was not. They were aweful and I sent the rest to my wife's grandfather. I soon felt shame and guilt.
Maybe you gotta be 80 to enjoy them. Who knows...

Almost forgot to mention, karma hit me pretty hard today - the retribution was swift and deadly... http://www.botl.org/threads/double-bombed-today.79422/#post-1583646
That Alphabet Bomber's a real psyco. It's really creepy cause he uses my local post office.

Rocket roulette number 8 review!

Here we go boys. Buckle in, it's a wild ride. First of all, this is a fine looking cigar. Kind of like an Alfa Romeo from the 80's, it looks good, but will it break down? First all, the wrapper looks great, and the cap is almost flawless. I'm really impressed by the band. The number 8 has a freehand look where it does not connect the entire number 8. The advertising department must have spent hours into making this band stand out in wall to wall b&m's

I don't spend any time toasting this one, cut, torch, and let's see what we've got here. Within 5 minutes, I fear the rocket. I tell myself to settle down, don't retrohale yet, and remember, even the finest cigar can start off rough. My heater s keeping me warm, and I continue to stare at my snowblower to increase my testosterone levels.

1st retrohale, not horrible, but nothing redeeming either. Hard to explain what's going on with this one. Not rally that great and I cannot pick up any chocolate, leather, nuts, or anything from a decent $5 & up cigar. It is a little sour, but not the worst I've ever had. About 25-35 minutes in, I start to experience construction issues with uneven burn. I continue to soldier on, but this smoke still has no redeeming qualities. Still can't pick up any decent favors, it's just there to occupy your time. Problem is, IM NOT DOING ANYTHING BUT SITTING HERE!

I continue on for about another 20 minutes until my slow witted brain kicks in. "Why am I here? It's cold, & I'm staring at a snowblower". This is when fright or flight kicks in. Sorry boys, I'm flying from this one. I just can't seem to find a reason to keep going with this one. In the end, I guess this is a smoke for someone that smokes 3 or more cigars a day & is on a strict budget (I'm guessing $1.50 to $2 for this one).

My verdict? Bundle, "are you crazy", 10 pack "heck no", 5 pack, "yeesh", single "nah", freebie "I guess so".

Not the worst I've ever had, but no detectable favors=do not buy. It will however be good mulch when the snow melts.

I must say I'm glad I can clear my pallate tonight with a better stick. So what was it?

All winter long, I was chucking finished sticks out the door into a huge snow drift. Now that it's mostly melted, I've got a cigar graveyard out there. It's difficult knowing the difference between dog rockets, nubs and actual dog crap.

@8ball - roulette stick number 8 was... (drumroll)...... the 5 Vegas Cask Strength. Not exactly a winner, but certainly not the worst stick in the roulette bag either. I kinda liked the Cask Strength the first couple times I smoked it, but that was back when I had just started with cigars. As my palate developed, I found it to be much like what you said - a time-killer cigar, hard to pick up any real flavors; it's pretty much a one-dimensional smoke.

Thanks for the nod of approval on the band - we explored dozens of ideas and design concepts for this one, but ultimately we decided that the freehand style in black and white really communicated the essence of the cigar best, and gave it a real artisan-esque feel that sets it apart from the rest. We know it's a crappy stick, but with the right marketing approach, we think it has staying power. ;)

Glad it wasn't a Padron, think I'd have to shoot myself in the foot after that review. Yeah, the cask strength makes since. Been at least 5 years since I've had one. It wasn't complete garbage, it was just "meh". I will admit, that it at least really looked good on the outside. Thanks for letting me play.
