We having a baby a week from now. I was planning on smoking a few sticks to celebrate. We were talking about it and she said she would like to try a cigar that taste fruity. I imagine it would have to be something infused. You guys have any suggestions for something that won't be too overpowering?

The problem with "fruity" is that most infused cigars end up smelling more like perfume than flavor, and then you smoke that chemical taste. It's not good. They have better success with chocolate infusion, IMHO.

fruity ? that's a tough flavor to cleanly produce. A Phillies blunt banana perhaps ?
Ive heard of some citrus notes hit on Connecticut wrapped blends.
And RA has that acclaimed supposed stewed fruit flavor goin on

Cherry flavor some some reason makes both of us feel like we're about to Ralf! I was thinking something possibly along cao line any one have the one with the blue band? I think it's called moon trance or something they also have a few others. also pondered swishers but want something hand rolled. We used to smoke a lot of black n milds and stuff n the past.I'll have to keep my eye out for the tatina. Her eyes lit up when I said sweet tarts. I think the acid Blondie will be to strong. I saw the nub macchiato which taste like coca but I think that might b too much for her. I might hit the b and m if I get a chance pick a stick up for her and buy one for me and smoke it there. See if I can find a lead on a job and clear my mind a lil

Congrats on the baby, Saturn. Guess I'll have to add you to the bomb list. I would highly suggest moon trance or Eileen's dream. My wife smokes both of these from time to time and loves them. I also smoke the Eileen's dream pipe tobacco and it's really good.

Maybe a Drew Estates Natural would do the trick, not exactly fruity, but very mild sweetish smoke, and some of them have sweetened tips as well. Smells like pipe smoke.

Fiancee also smokes the moontrance in addition to the cherrybomb. I tried it and I actually liked it but I don't think I could ever regularly smoke.

First, mega-congrats - there is nothing more wonderfully and celebration worthy than the birth of child!

I am going to echo the comments of others, most of the "fruity" offering are not really all that good imo. Whereas Drew Estate's coffee infusion offerings are imo an excellent choice. In particular, the Java, Java Mint and Tabak Especial are all good selections.

IMO, the Java is the sweetest, the Java Mint is very pleasing with its mint element and the Tabak is more like a traditional blend with a nuance of coffee & chocolate added.

One other thing I would add is the suggestion you opt for a larger format vitola, aka a toro. The prevailing common wisdom is to offer neophyte smokers a smaller ring gauge, but imo this is not the best advice as these smaller formats burn hotter and in turn, are harsher in flavor and strength. I find it is better to offer the new smoker a toro as the added length and girth actually make for a cooler and milder initial smoking experience. Just explain this to the smoker and emphasize to them that it is PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE to smoke less of it, that they are not expected to smoke the entire cigar, but rather to just smoke it until they no longer find it pleasing.

Congrats Again,

STS
