Hmmm, wonder why that works?

Unless they placed those coins in there and staged it. I didn't make out the sound of the coins being dispensed.

Pretty sharp...

I have one of these machines at the office (looks almost identical) and I tried it - no dice. It doesn't seem that the door is mechanically connected at anything other than the hinges and shouldn't affect the mechanism responsible for giving change / refunds. I'm not sure how that could be possible without it being staged. Call me a naysayer.

Staged ...

There are no sensors in the bottom of those machines. ( I used to work for a company that refurbishes vending machines )

we have one at work that does have a sensor. not sure how it works but the machine will continue to turn until a product falls (to the bottom???). this was implemented because too many times the machine would turn but the 'prize' would not fall.

my guess is the sensor is above the bottom drawer part.

Side Note: I recently boycotted our vending machine since they raised every price by a quarter. If I can cheat them, they're going down.

I remember many times the thing just turns a full turn and then stops, and sometimes your food doesn't even drop and you don't get your money back. But I will go downstairs and see if this works.
Worst thing that happens is I end up with a candy bar!

Interesting, too bad ours takes a smart card. It will not give change either.

Back in high school there was a milk machine set up just like the vending machines. There was a sensor on the bottom but you couldn't push up the door cause it was configured differently. However, they made the glass flexible enough to where you could push on it when your milk fell and trap it mid-machine. Push the change button, get your change back, and voila! Free milk. Only did this like twice tho, cause I felt kinda bad. But it was expensive milk.
