I'm using a cooler for storage. I keep it in an interior closet and the temp is running 71 pretty consistently with our AC running on hot days.

My question is regarding what to do if we go out of town for say a week or more. I would normally turn up the thermostat to save a few bucks and conserve energy. Now if I do that I would need a plan I think.

Recommendations here? Just leave em and set the therm to no higher than xx? Double bag and put in the fridge? Just curious what you coolerdor folks do. I have plenty of refrigerator(s) but don't want to dry out my stash.

No basement?
Nope, we're on concrete slabs here in Fl.

Yeah a wineador would be the permanent fix. I was just wondering about a temp fix. 71 is ok for a cooler isn't it? I know that temp won't hold if I bump the AC up tho.

Ah, the inevitable progression...

I have some control in the room I keep my coolers by opening and closing the vents as needed throughout the house. Even when the thermostat is set a little high in the summer, if I close down the majority of vents on the house but keep the one in my office wide open I see it stay a few degrees cooler in that room. I don't know if you have that option, but it works pretty well for me.

Depending on how long you're away, you could do like my buddy Cigary43 and put a "blue ice" thingie in the cooler? Check the thread; "Can't keep it Cool Enough"
