It can pack five comfortably, seen it with seven in it. I just like it because of its shape, seems very portable...

Hey guys, looking to get a humidor for travel, for when I golf, and to keep in my truck. This will be my first humidor, as I'm new. I've been looking into this one, what do you guys think?

That thing's WAY too expensive. Try this; http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acrylic-Cigar-Jar-Humidor-/161639075421?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25a2708e5d
Plus, you can get them at WalMart for $8 and add your own cedar and humidifier. Spend the $70 you save on sticks!

Ya i don't mind suggestions. I don't want a glass jar though. I'm on the move a lot, usually have a back pack with me, I want to be able to throw it in there and not worry about it. I guess I was drawn to the one I posted because it's made of metal, seems like it hides away nice.

Yes, it looks cool and all, but it's basically a metal tube, with nothing inside to keep your cigars from bouncing around during transit, and possibly cracking a wrapper. As others have already said, I suggest a Herfador/Xikar. They are practically bulletproof, and include foam padding to separate and protect your cigars during transit. I have both a 15 count and a 50 count.

Here's a link to a 10 count at one of our sponsors starting at only $16.50. http://www.cigarauctioneer.com/xikar-10-count-cigar-humidor/item-23193?auctionnum=1295030

Herfadors work great. The thing with the one I showed you is that it's tough acrylic, not glass and it'll hold 25 sticks so you can use it at home for overflow. You're gonna have overflow if you hang around here...

I've been lusting after the gramm works for a while, they appear to be gorgeous and well made (though I've never seen one in person). But unless you aren't taking but a few smokes with you it's probably not the best travel setup, especially not for the money and storage capacity when you can get something like this(or something bigger or smaller) that is air tight, water proof, and crush proof..

But I say if you aren't worried about the price or the storage capacity, get the gramm works if that's what you want because it's certainly a cool setup:cigar:

It's roughly the same size, but it's acrylic not metal. There is a small cartridge in the bottom that you can fill with beads or KL to keep your sticks humid. Comes with a strap, and a cutter. Also has a useless analog guage. I've won two on seperate occasions to just get things before my order shipped after a larger purchase. I got the first for $1.50 and the other for $1. Helluva lot cheaper than $80 for essentially the same thing.

Love my herfadors.
Got a 5 count for when I'm going somewhere for dinner or something where im not sure if I'll be able to smoke or not and whether anyone else will join.

Got a 10ct for road trips or times I know I'll be sharing.

Got a 15ct for longer road trips or weekend vacations.

Got two 40ct that I bring on vacation and trips to the race track when I know I'll be sharing quite a bit.

All of them have been solid performers have zero concern about the cigars protection or humidification with a Boveda or three in there.

I like the #10 Hedrfador, room for 5 sticks, water pillow, and a tin of cigarillos (still %$^@! cold up here). Keep a cheap guillotine cutter on the lanyard.

Trying for the same system... Have already won a 40ct and 10ct on Cbid... Just won two 5ct. Herfadors tonight for $7 each, can't beat the price.

Thats about as solid a review as you will find and the part about carrying only a couple cigars should be of note to you. I wouldn't want to have something like this as my only portable storage option if it meant having singles in there that could get wrapper damage. I would think that could hold especially true if it were dropped.
Having said that, it is sweet looking.

Or you could look around for a sampler that includes a herfador and a 5 pack. Many times this can work out to be a cheap way of getting one.
something like this:
http://www.cigarsinternational.com/samplers/89683/el-gordo-52-oliva-master-blends-iii-herf-a-dor/
In a back pack, those anodised alluminum containers can get scratched quick and dinged easy, then after a couple trips it'll look like crap. Plastic might work better for you. It's a cool looking container but, you don't really need a T6061 aircraft grade alluminum humidor unless you're going to strap some wheels on and ride it. ;)
