My opinion, as everyone has one is.......
Xikar 5 count for the portable, works great for me. 10 bucks on cigarbid

Hey guys, looking to get a humidor for travel, for when I golf, and to keep in my truck. This will be my first humidor, as I'm new. I've been looking into this one, what do you guys think?

Cigar auctioneer does have the tubes for a buck fifty if that's what you want. The xikar 5 counts are 14.50 on there

Here's my 5 count. It's perfect for golfing! If your traveling I recommend a 10 count if you just need something for one cigar you can get a plastic air tight tube for 2$ shipped but they don't hold the larger rg like the nubs but most cigars fit fine I'd get one of each

That things is cool and it will work (someone else already posted reviews and such to it) but the first thing I through of was about banging cigars around if its not full.
If it suits your needs go for it. Otherwise I think its a gimme that the "herfador" is the storage/travel option of choice. FWIW... I got a Xikar set on Cbid that included a 5 ct herfador, a cutter, lighter and cigar cup holder ashtray thingy for under $45.

For golf I use a 5 count Xikar, I put one of those small Boveda packs in and load it up and leave it in my bag, just add when you need to. For travel I use an 18 count Xikar, same deal but large Boveda pack - it's what works for me. I picked them both up on an auction site so I did not have to pay big bucks for them. Lifetime guarantee so you won't have to purchase them again

I agree that the GRAMM looks pretty bad ass, but I'd be worried about damage when carrying less than a full-ish stash. I suppose throwing in a boveda pack or something as filler could help those situations.

As others have mentioned, the herfadors are great and it's something to strongly consider especially at the price. I love my 5 ct and just added a 10ct to my cbid order the other day...along with a bunch of other stuff, haha

But get what you like and will use, that's part of why this hobby is so great!

Think you guys helped me make up my mind. Think I'm going to purchase a herfador. The gramm works is awesome looking, but for the price not worth it. I'll get a herfador, fill it up twice, for the money of the gramm works. Besides, it's what's on the inside that counts right?

Nope, it's all about style. But I do think that the herfador is the more practical way to go. And if you lose it or someone takes it, you're out only a few bucks.

What do I need to get if I purchase the herfador? I mean anything in particular work best to keep them moist? Also how does the cigar caddy compare?

I'm still new to this. I might order a cigar caddy on Amazon, they're readily available. What should I get with it? Boveda packs? And how do I test the humidity, do I need to?

Get a Boveda and throw in there. There's usually enough space as long as you're not throwing 60 RG cigars in there. As long as you're only using it for a day or two I wouldn't worry about humidity. You can always get throw a digital hygro in there if you're worried. At that point you start cutting into your storage space so you might need to go up a size on the caddy.

I have a few three-finger cases; a five, a six, a fifteen and a 45 count herfidor, three, 10-20 count travel humidors.

And to tell you the truth, my daily choice 9 days out of 10, is the one I'm carrying today: a 5x9 ziploc bag with a yellow smiley face smoking a cigar.

Good choice OP. The tubes are fancy but even if you stuff em with sticks, once you've smoked a couple, the rest will be banging around inside.

So I think I'm going with the five pack. Should I grab a boveda pack? Or a few drops in the disc? Most likely there will be at least one cigar that spends a week in there.

Throw out the disk and use a mini Boveda at 65 or 62 or whatever RH you like. I put it under the foam, which is porous enough to let the water vapor through.

Pop that disc thing out (like Shlippy said), it can dent larger RG cigars. Use a small bored pack (I use 69 but will prob grab a few 65 on my next order). I also added some cedar from some boxes. That thin stuff just to keep is cedar smelling.
Its "plug and play" really. Buy it, load it, carry it, smoke them.
