So I am looking to start a coolerdor and require some Spanish cedar (no i'm not spanish cedar fishing) I tried going to the local B&M which in Toronto is a crummy convenience store type place with a guy that thinks he knows but knows nothing about cigars or a posh stick your nose up in the air because we don't carry sticks under $20 kinda place. Needless to say neither of these places are keen on giving up the cedar from their older boxes of cigars (I've offered to pay) even though they're just sitting in a corner of the shop. It seems my American brothers have a much easier time with going to their local B&M and acquiring such. Are there any alternatives to Spanish Cedar or is my best bet just ordering some from the states online. If you know of any sites that sell old boxes and are Canadian friendly please post up.

Cheers

I've got a box full of empty old boxes if you need them, and live about 2hr down the 401 from you. Not sure what's in there anymore and how useful the 'cedar' would be but lmk if you want them.
A fellow Canadian! Where abouts on the 401 are you? I don't suppose there would be a problem with the cedar if I seasoned the wood properly what does anyone else think?

You can always give the boxes a quick go over with a piece of sand paper then hit it with a blow dryer to get rid of any dust. Should make the cedar nice and aromatic again.

Would they need to be seasoned though?

I'm not sure about alternatives but I ordered from woodcraft workshop through Amazon and had a good experience.
There is a decent Woodcraft retail store in Knoxville, in the same shopping center as Trader Joes, the next time you need a couple of spanish cedar planks (I bought all the SC that I used to line my cabinet humidor with there a few months ago)..
