We've made root beer out here at work a couple times. 5 gallons of water, a brick of dry ice, root beer extract and about a half pound of sugar. Not gourmet or anything, but not bad either.
Jones sodas are pretty good for store bought.

Edit: not exactly sure on the amount of sugar, but it was a LOT.

If your from the east coast, New England specifically. There's Flat Breads pizza. It started as a hippie joint in Vermont. But has made its way down here to Mass. They have an organic root beer that they make themselves. Very good. I don't drink soda anymore, but I make an exception when I go there. Plus, it's the best pizza IMO. Great place. Organic pizza, organic root beer.
If you're from around here, give it a bid :)

Sprecher, Henry Weinhardt, Frosties, Bull Dog, and Hanks are my favorite. I like rootbeers with Creaminess with bit of honey/vanilla flavor.

Didn't even know they made one lol guess it's time to visit Lyons again.
Hey man, if you don't feel like getting all the way to Lyons, they have a nice spot in Longmont too. Also a tasting room nearby "Tasty Weasel". I've seen the root beer in countless liquor stores too.

The wife will bring one home for me every now and again as she knows I love drinking them with a good CC (she knows i drink too much whiskey :))

I usually end up in Lyons on my way to the park for climbing more than Longmont. Maybe I'll just check Total Beverage tomorrow. Do you ever visit any of the local b&m's?

I go to Havana Manor in Louisville maybe 3 or 4 times a month. It's right next to work and is super chill.
How about you?

Havana Manor for me also. I'm usually in a few times a week during fall-spring as I have a locker. We should meet up sometime.

Goose Island would be my first pick.

Not your father's root beer from small town brewery is excellent too. . . And 10% abv.
I second the not my fathers root beer. Good stuff but can only be bought in the Chicagoland area.

Always been a fan of root beer but don't really drink it often. Like A&W, Barqs and IBC, not a fan of Dad's.

I stopped by Harris Teeter and they had several options so I grabbed this one.

They also carry Maine, Stewart's, Virgils and Natural Brew as well in bottles that I am curious to try. Anyone had the Maine Root Beer and speak on why it's double the price of the rest of them and if it's worth it?
I gotta admit that Jones makes a heckuva Root Beer and I love it but the cost for it tends to turn me off. Another flavor they have is the Strawberry which is perfect for anything BBQ...if you don't drink Strawberry Soda then you don't know $hit about BBQ.

I was raised on A&W as a kid where we'd go to the drive in restaurant and get the fresh root beer in a frosted glass ( 1960's ) and that was the all time best root beer hands down.
