remember where I work...picture
I honestly cannot remember. I was actually trying to think of it. I just remembered you got a new job.remember where I work...
Derek's exactly right. I have those same totes and they work just fine and are sealed perfectly. Only issue is temp fluctuations where a cooler will give a more consistent environment. I personally wouldn't worry about temp fluctuations in your basement if you have a standard house in Wisconsin. Only if you have a hot basement is when I would be concerned. The advantage of a coolidor isn't so much that it keeps a cool temp, it's that it mitigates the effect of temp fluctuations. So as long as there aren't fluctuations in your basement, those should work fine!
That's perfect and cheap right there.I got this Sterilite container from target. Think I paid like 12 bucks for this 32qt water tight container from Target.
These things say they come with a seal under the lid, so no weather stripping probably needed. If they are as good at keeping moisture out as the reviews all say then they will probably do a good job of keeping the humidity in.Are these the totes in question? Also, do you keep them in a place without much temp fluctuation? Also, what's this weather stripping you speak of?
I cannot understand why temperature itself is a big issue. If the temp is too high then there is a risk of beetles hatching but if there are no beetles then it is irrelevant. If the RH stays good then I don't see what the effect of +/- 10 degrees would do. Could someone please enlighten me?Do temperature fluctuations hurt the cigars? I'm talking about small ~5* over the course of a day.
Well, temperature does effect RH, but small fluctuations shouldn't hurt anything. Large/quick temperature swings can cause the RH to increase or decrease out of the optimal storage range. As long as your humidor is kept in a climate controlled space (and out of direct sunlight if it's tupperware or has glass the sunlight can shine through) you'll be fine.I cannot understand why temperature itself is a big issue. If the temp is too high then there is a risk of beetles hatching but if there are no beetles then it is irrelevant. If the RH stays good then I don't see what the effect of +/- 10 degrees would do. Thanks,
Bruce.
According to them: " These watertight totes are not food grade plastic. At this time we do not have any watertight food grade/safe plastic."How about these things?

Has anyone ever used these? I'm considering getting some of these to supplement the wineador and to create some much needed space for some long term storage. I'd be keeping them in a basement, so temp shouldn't be an issue.
So that said, anyone have anything to say about these?
Thanks,
Paul
