How big of a wineador will i need?.....I currently have about 1100 sticks that are in fairly large coolerdors and of course i will add to my collection. ..

Is there a bottle to cigar ratio? (I was thinking of a 100 bottle wine cooler but is this to big OR not big enough?
Where is a good plade to get a reasonably priced wine cooler? ?
I frequently give (and get) cigars so theres the singles factor....
i am sick of playing tetris!

What do you think?

Well it seems like i can get 2 38 counts for half the price of a 1 80 count....... if they were big enough i could simply stack them..... or so i am thinking..

Most wineadors over the 30 bottle capacity tend to NOT be thermoelectric. You might want to be aware of that. I've got 3 28 bottle NewAir so I'm the wrong guy to ask. Do you have mostly boxes or singles? That would dictate shelves or drawers, shelves being cheaper of course. I have a Wineador that is for boxes that has one shelf. Works great. Also, if you have loads of boxes and a 'cool' spot in the basement, a Coolidor might be your best option.

I have a mix but there are a fair amount of singles....coolerdors are just not big enough unless i get the huge marine ones. They cost 500 or soo and for that coin if i throw anothe 500 in i would get a 3000 count humidor and definately be covered. Plus i like the look of wineadors and large humidors.

@acc5r1 yes i would love a walk in :D

If they're in coolers now, you don't need active refrigeration.

I would suggest a used fridge or freezer (unplugged.)

Way cheaper than anything else.

If you want it to look cool and money is not an issue, a custom made cabinet.

I can get 2 thermoelectric 51 counts with interior dimensions 16.5" W * 17.3" D * 29.5
what about that? It would be 9.7 cubic feet total if i did the math correctly..

SOFC...of course i want to look cool :)

you ever wish to buy cigars again?

If you wish to keep that number of cigars, I would go with a cabinet, especially if you want it to look cool. Cost wise, it might be a little more but if you're buying trays, shelves etc to make it custom, it might even out somewhat in the end.

or you could just buy a used cabinet or buffet and line it with spanish cedar and fix it up to make a humidor.

Those big wooden cabinets that they sell specifically as humidors would concern me. They are really beautiful but from the photos it doesn't look like that have a great seal. If the doors don't have gaskets around them I would be concerned about maintaining the RH. It would suck to spend all that money and then have to fuss with it all the time. Of course, if you can afford one of those cabinets then you can probably afford an active climate control system.

Kinda what i was thinking about a mediocre seal...i often wondered why they never used a magnetic seal like on a refrigerator and ...... hence.......use a large wineador... damn so many thoughts running through my head about the best environment for my sticks...but i still want it to look cool too.

My biggest concern about a used cabinet or hutch would be the seal around the doors....but i like the idea

very easy to overcome.. just a little weather stripping from Home Depot.. and you can seal up the doors tight as a drum.. (Ive done this on 2 different cabinet conversions.. my first cabinet humidor started life as a gun cabinet.. my current cabinet started life as a china cabinet)...

Thats good to hear...i have been checking cgslist for days and stumbled upon a solid oak cabinet that's 6 ft high x 16 in wide x 24 in deep the same cubic foot as a bigger cabinet humidor from cheap humidors.... looking at it on sunday00Z0Z_jOz7ruRz29B_600x450.jpg

That cabinet looks awesome.

Applying weatherstripping is not as easy as it sounds. You have to still have the door close properly. The easiest solution usually is to move the hinges out so the doors are mounted an even distance out from the cabinet all around. Lots of strong magnets are needed to hold the door closed with even pressure. I would say about 3-4 down the height of those doors. Also, I would suggest sealing all the back joints with odour-free silicone caulk to improve the seal.

You may also want to drill some holes or cut slots in the shelves to improve air circulation. A 1" hole saw would make quick work of it.
