So I purchased a Solid oak (except the back which is 3/4” plywood) Locker that has roughly 16 Cubic feet of storage (72”h x16”w x 24 d) and am going to repurpose it as a BAH (big ass humidor). It’s very solid and cost a whopping $100. Less than the lumber would be to make it probably and surely less than a 3500 count premade humidor.

My thought is that others may want to do this and if they can learn from my experience/mistakes all the better.

The first thing is to sand it for a more appealing color (probably a dark cherry wood color) I am not going to actually stain it until it’s functional and am only going to stain the outside of it of course. It’s going to be lined with Spanish cedar. (I love that smell. Do they make an air freshener that scent??)

Second thing I am doing is working on the seal. Sure it works fine for a locker but there isn’t a seal at all now. My thought was to get a magnetic door seal and secure a 2” sheet metal strip on the perimeter of the inside of the door for the magnetic door seal to adhere to. Very similar to how a refrigerator seals. So I put in an order for the seal from Amazon and the metal was available at the big orange HD.

Any other suggestion/thoughts about getting a good seal are highly encouraged.

That’s as far as I am going with it at this point but will add more as I do more
