My in-laws have one just like that. It's a great looking unit! It is a compressor driven, and does make some noise. For that price though, i'd buy it for sure!

Doesn't seem to be a compressor unit. It doesn't have the odd hump at the bottom and the manual calls out "thermo electric units".

Buy it!
If it's a compressor unit just don't plug it in. If your place has A/C then it's not an issue. If it doesn't then put an ice pack in there a few times during the weeks where the temp is over 80.
That would make a beautiful humidor.
