I am re-purposing a solid oak locker for a 15cf humidor and looking for active humidification..........

.....So far this is what I have come up with

  • Avallo Accumonitor (how's ron btw??)
  • Cigar Oasis (Magna, Plus etc)
  • The Hydra Humidifier

Any others ??
Thoughts on them?? (I have only heard positives on the Accumonitor and like the fan timer option but also is the most expensive)
I did a search but all the threads seemed old (ish)

Many thanks!!!

I have the Cigar Oasis XL Plus in my Newair AW281e. Previously I had the XL, but it couldn't keep up. The XL Plus has been great. Haven't had a single issue with it. *knock on wood*. If you were to get the Cigar Oasis though, you'd need the Magna at least. the XL Plus is rated for up to 10 cu. ft.

A wineador. Nice! Thanks for the tip. Currently leaning towards the Accumonitor but still word is still out.....

Just upgraded to the Cigar Oasis Plus (next gen). I love it. Once you get her dialed in, it's truly a "set and forget" solution. Humidifies my 750-1000 capacity cigar cooler very well. If you want to be really aggressive, get the Magna model and you probably won't have to refill the cartridge for 3-6 months. Fill it, forget it. It's that simple. I do replace the Cigar Oasis cartridges every 6 months to a year, just to keep them from funking up. But other than that, it's maintenance-free. Been using some form of Cigar Oasis for many years now and have never been disappointed.

Ive got an Oasis XL in a 3000 stick cabinet.. Its backed up by about a dozen bovedas and about 4lbs of KL.. so it rarely has to come on or do anything (Its mostly my security blanket.. I know if Im traveling, its there to kick in and help out if needed)..

Ive been running it for close to 2 years at this point and havent had any issues at all...

I did modify the reservoir (cut the foam out, and replaced with KL), and added 2x additional fans to it.. but.. not sure if thats really doing anything or not for me.. but.. its cheap/easy to do.. so.. I did it..

Personally I dont think an XL, XL Plus, or a Magna will be able to handle a 15cf cabinet by itself.. I am certain the Hydra cant (I have also owned a hydra in the past).. but.. if you supplement with some KL and/or Boveda's... you should be good..

Thanks for the info +1 for the Oasis systems....i have a $&!tload of kl and beads from my coolerdors that i would transfer over. Do these active hum. systems REMOVE excess humidity also?

On a somewhat similiar note i have a RH meter....which is hopefully more accurate than the various digital hygrometers i have are...... which is like 6 of them and NONE of them read the same or even with in 3 points of each other.
