I REPORT, YOU DECIDE.

The BUFFETT Rule

We must support this - pass it on and let’s see if these idiots understand what people pressure is all about.

Salary of retired US Presidents .. . . . .. . . . . .. . $180,000 FOR LIFE

Salary of House/Senate members .. . . . .. . . . $174,000 FOR LIFE This is dumb

Salary of Speaker of the House .. . . . .. . . . . $223,500 FOR LIFE This is full retard mode

Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders . . .. . . . . $193,400 FOR LIFE Ditto last line

Average Salary of a teacher . . .. . . . .. . . . . .. .. $40,065

Average Salary of a deployed Soldier . . .. . . .. $38,000

I think we found where the cuts should be made! If you agree pass it on, as I just did.

Warren Buffet, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in five minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election".

The 26th Amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only three months and eight days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2015

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/1/15. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people, then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

If you agree, pass it on.

Buffet actually made that comment about 3% GDP back in 2011 during the election cycle trying to get people to pay attention to "the buffet rule", which is an Obama administration supported plan that imposes a 30% tax on people that make more than $1M a year (among several other things)..

The Congressional Reform Act is something completely separate from "the buffet rule".... is fictional.. and has a lot of inaccuracies in it.. (for example congressmen do not have tenure.. they do pay into social security like the rest of us (they have since 1984).. and they are not immediately vested in the congressional pension plan... )...

Dont get me wrong... Congress is ALL KINDS OF MESSED UP... I dont care of your are an R or a D or a L or a G... your party leadership sucks.. and I dont care where you live... many of your elected officials suck (there are some exceptions)..

but.. if we're going to beat up congress (they certainly deserve it).. lets beat them up for things they are truly guilty of.. like refusing to pass a budget year after year (they either dont do it, do it late, do it poorly, etc..etc.. this is something required by law.. yet they snub it every year..)...ceding powers to the executive branch... loyalty to special interest groups rather than the general public.. etc..etc.. (there is PLENTY they do wrong every single day...)...

The average salary of a teacher is 40k?!
Different salaries for different states obviously but what other profession do you know of that lets you off for 3 months....as Teachers can decide how to be paid....9 months for the time they are teaching or spread out over the entire year. Teachers tend to take their lump sum pay for 9 months and then find other work for the summer months. They are tenured usually around 10 years....they retire at full pay....what other job do you see that has that much going for them? While I think what they do is noble they don't want everybody to know the real facts of their career and I tire of the bellyaching and whining of how poor they are...when they retired ( and they pretty much retire when they know they get their full pension ) who else...who else gets that kind of guarantee? Congress does....Gov't workers tend to get their Golden Parachutes but the common everyday working stiff often times has to work until their mid to late 60's to survive and it isn't on Social Security.

The average salary of a teacher is 40k?!
really depends on where in the country you are.. if you work for private or public schools.. and a number of other factors..

in TN for example.. there is a state salary schedule.. that is based on 5 tiers of experience, education, and performance.. that also has 21 "steps" in it to account for longevity/years of service..

entry wages are $38K.. and they max out at $57K.. which may not sound like much.. but.. considering a 9 month work year, the lower level requirements for an "entry level" position, etc.. and then factor in the extremely low cost of living in most of the state... its not bad compensation at all.. (as a comparison... my wife works for a global fortune 500 company.. where they pay entry level accountants.. with accounting specific degrees FAR less than the entry teacher salary, and require them to work 48 weeks out of the year (2x weeks vacation, plus 10x holidays)... cops in this city enter at $31K and top out at $46K.. and work nights/weekends/holidays, etc... all things considered.. when compared to other professions in the area.. public school teachers (here at least) dont really have it all that bad...

as another aside.. my youngest daughters 4th grade teacher quit her job as a research scientist at a nuclear laboratory.. to become an elementary school teacher.. because she thought the work schedule was better, the stress was lower, and the pay and benefits were good enough to make it worth the transition...

Congress does....Gov't workers tend to get their Golden Parachutes ...
Please don't conflate Congresscritters (or even the Senior Executive Service) with rank & file Government workers. I'm one of the latter and I most definitely will not receive anything approaching what I would call a "Golden Parachute". It'll be a modest supplement to my military pension but I'll still be working to pay the bills after my second "retirement" just like I did the first.

Please understand that this isn't a blanket statement....or I would have said EVERYBODY in Gov't which I didn't. The majority of if not all Congress and Senior Execs have their Golden Parachutes....those that serve in the Military get screwed over and taken advantage of. Postal Workers tend to receive some great benes which I don't take exception because they work for it....my post covered those that work the least tend to get the most.

Please define "work the least and tend to get the most". It still seems like a blanket statement to teachers. I have no teachers in my family. Just friends and neighbors that tend to be well educated and very hardworking. Like putting up with disrespectful kids daily from parents that tend to not teach their children to respect others.

You may not have intended "Govt workers tend..." as a blanket statement but it still strikes me as an overly broad brush loaded with tar. The SES comprises about 1% of the Federal work force. My guess is Congress tallies less than that but let's call it another 1% just for the heck of it. Sorry, I'm just not real clear on how 2% (or 4% or 10%...) amounts to a tendency among Government workers.

Anyway, it's not the money they make that I really have a problem with. It's that Congresscritters can keep a bottle of scotch in their office and I can't. Dammitalltohell.

Ok...broad brush loaded with "tar".....really? I said that it wasn't intended for those folks who are honest and forthright but people read what they want to read and hope that when you say something...even with a qualifying remark you'll remember as you're being painted with that same brush.

Really...even when I said it wasn't a blanket statement.....some people just want to see it that way and no amount of qualifying it will do.....let's just agree that EVERY single teacher...every single Gov't worker and Congressman and Senator are above reproach....there, feel better?

Yes, really. "Golden parachute" most often scans as a pejorative in this context.
Look, I'm not trying to flame you. I'm just letting you know how your post came across on this side of the screen...and why. I can see now that was a mistake. My apologies. It won't happen again.

My wife is a private school teacher who works full time, maintains our house full time, and goes to school full time to get her Masters in education. It took her over 3 years to find a full time teaching job in Atlanta (she was more than qualified, and looked up to a 2 hour commute time for jobs). When she finishes her Masters, she will be eligible to make a whopping 37k a year. She deals with a backwards administration, a government who has no idea how to "govern" the classroom and the course of our youth (but keeps trying), 17 kindergarten children, all their crazy parents, and local GA politicians saying gems such as "you shouldn't make more just because you have an advanced degree."

For lack of a more graceful way to phrase it, the teaching game is totally fucked, yo.
